I am sorry that I did not spend more time at this wonderful public park adjacent to Mission Bay when I still lived in San Diego. The amenities and the neighborhood are very chill (blends tend to do that). Absence of pride based on "purity".... Crew teams and kite surfers abounding in the water while kids playing on the playground equipment made for a peaceful evening backdrop for the Singles Ministry at Rock Church to gather by a bonfire and sing some songs and fellowship. The parking is ample if you come directly into the park area. The side streets are habitually tempting to slither up an down wasting precious daytime searching for that perfect spot. So, don't do that. I managed to find what seemed to be the last good spot to wedge my dirty little Prius into on a side street named Everts when I should have persisted until I found the main parking lot. It was seemingly very far away from the site where my friends from church were, and my flip flopped tootsies were not appreciative of the extra time pounding the pavement. But, it was a happy little accident though, to be lost for a moment, because even though I was very late to the party, which I am getting better about because my anxiety previously would have caused me to just leave and not show up even if I was 5 minutes late, so, as I searched for my people and watched the sun set over the Bay, I was inspired by other possible solutions to other problems that had been pushed back for one reason or another, mostly racism, then misogyny. It is amazing what a walk on the sidewalk, the sound of waves crashing, and people sitting on their verandas with sunglasses on can reveal and help connect proverbial dots in life. There is no place for those two things in God's kingdom. Racism and misogyny are bad news. My life's mission and purpose. So, I made it to the party. We all had a fantastic time. The fire was hot. The cocoa was bittersweet but the pumpkin pie was delicious. The conversations were great and uplifting. My only question remaining for the night is how to get people more spirit filled while singing praise and worship songs. Praise the Lord for such a beautiful park, perfect weather, and the fellowship and friendship of people at church. "Where two or more are gathered in...
Read moreThe park rangers and city workers really harass citizens. I agree with the park rules but we had a birthday party and had a jumper and permit. The lady changing the trash cans complained that we were to close to the cans and she couldn't just drive up on the grass to throw the bags in she had to actually walk 10'! I asked her what was the issue as she was walking thru our party area and she told me . Then went on to say its illegal to put small tent page in the ground for the jumper and told us to remove them. I said the jumper has a permit we paid for with the city and I didn't put the pegs in the jumper company did ! They were small 8" stakes that weren't even exposed or causing any trip hazards. I called the jumper place and told them . They said they were unaware about the rule and only did it to prevent it from blowing over in wind . I thought it was valid reason and wasn't causing any problems. Well 30 minutes later park rangers, "law enforcement " comes and plays tough on me and I argue till they pull some ridiculous rule out of a book saying no stakes allowed in the grass🤯
I'll probably never go back again. Watch out for over zealous city workers who are not happy with their jobs, wanting to ruin your kids birthday. After they left I walked around and saw multiple jumpers in the park with stakes in the ground! They should be terminated and the city parks should really be more courteous to the...
