i understand this place is highly rated, but that was not my experience. i arrived and ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and 2 coffees, 1 regular and 1 mocha. i was parked in 1st spot in front of the ordering window. after i paid and was instructed to leave a tip on the tablet (with 18% being the lowest suggested tip) i left my 18% tip and let the order taker know that i would be seated in the car right there in front (because there were no seats that i could see to wait). after waiting for quite a while, i went to ask about my food and coffee and found they were sitting at a window around the corner, out of sight, with my name on the bag. i picked up my food and coffee which were now cold. not sure why they thought i was letting them know where i would be if they weren't planning on telling me my order was ready? also not sure what my tip was for? as for the food, it was just ok. maybe sub-par. the bacon egg and cheese had some type of weird margarine sauce spread that was ALL pepper. the eggs had more pepper in them. it tasted like a pepper shaker. the bagel and bacon were ok. the regular coffee tasted like hazlenut. not sure if they put in the wrong creamer or didn't wash the carafe, but it was weird to taste hazlenut when you're expecting regular. the mocha was also just ok. it was a little gritty. like not mixed well or something. the regular cup also was leaking. so overall, for $36 i got 2 sandwiches that were mostly pepper, and 2 coffees that tasted a little off, one in a leaking cup. it would of been nice if there was at least a smile or a thank you. maybe i caught everyone on an off day, but i was expecting a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWould definitely recommend for the acai bowls, smoothies, or regular coffee orders. Can't really recommend their breakfast sandwiches or their flavored coffee, as a sandwich is for soggy and the coffee was overflavored.
We went here twice during our stay in mission Beach. The first time we ordered two breakfast sandwiches, a smoothie, and two flavored coffees. The breakfast sandwich was unimpressive. The eggs seemed poorly cooked, there was too much sauce which made the sandwich hard to handle, and the ratios of toppings to eggs to cheese seemed disproportionate. In addition, the flavored coffee had a couple too many pumps of the flavoring and was overpowering. The smoothie however was delicious.
We decided to give it another chance for the next day as we were in a rush and it was closest to our Airbnb. The second time, we got two regular coffees, a regular smoothie, and a regular egg breakfast sandwich. The regular coffee and the smoothie were good. Nothing impressive, but much better than our prior experience. But again, the sandwich was pretty unappetizing. Soggy, funky eggs, hard to handle.
Parking is very limited so I definitely recommend walking or biking if you are in the area.
The outdoor ambiance is very nice, although quite loud as it is just off of a busy street.
Staff was very friendly and it seemed like many of the regular patrons were...
Ā Ā Ā Read more$ to $$. Crown Point Coffee made my top 10 of 2018 easily.
This is my favorite Coffee Shop in San Diego even though I just found it. I have put it on my top 10 Coffee Houses of 2018 in SoCal. The coffee was very smooth which is important to me. They have a lot of options; I am getting into less dairy so I chose Almond Milk.
The building is cool, mid-century modern. One of the best things about this CP Coffee is the service. Three busy, busy gals even though this is a small place; the line moves fast. Very nice patio seating.
Crown Point is occupied by more professionals than this area in general. Pacific Beach is great for party people but sometimes a body just wants to chill and even talk to someone. Good place for that!
Close to Mission Bay, Paradise Point, and Crown Point Park (nearby are miles of bike paths and plenty of spaces for the adventurous soul).
and.... this place is very dog friendly! Love that!
