I get massages about once a month. My husband is Thai, so we are huge fans of Thai massage and try to get them whenever we travel. We’re in San Diego for our wedding anniversary and book a 90 minute massage. Based on price and place we’re not expect frills just good Thai massage. I can confidently say this was the worst massage experience of both of our lives. First the room was freezing, which was only partially made up for by a heating pad which intermittently went off. I was shivering. Next, my masseuse just softly rubbed my skin. No deep tissue. No Thai technique. Didn’t ask about areas for focus. Didnt focus on any muscle groups. I kept waiting for the real massage to start but it never did. My husband’s masseuse was extremely unprofessional— she was literally texting the entire time, I could hear her phone dinging and he said she would stop massaging with both hands and just lazily massage with one hand while obviously texting with the other. They were very pushy afterwards insisting on Venmo or Zelle for payment plus tip, and we just wanted to get out and not start a conflict since we had dinner reservations right after, so we stupidly paid and left. I asked if I could get a refund at least for massage and have them keep tip since they still did a service, but they refused. Never experienced a worse massage in our lives. Stay away...
Read moreI expectated this to be a 90 minute traditional thai massage but was a very disappointed. For starters my therapist was not thai. Nothing against that but the pase and style of touch was missing. Also the therapist was gliding on my skin with bare feet which is usually fine but she had very dry cracked skin on her feet. It felt very abrasive. Then as she was gliding on my back she was making movements that felt unstable like she was going to slip off me and fall. The overall style and structure of the movements were off. And the worst thing was the therapist was waiting in the front for a tip. My usual thai massage place has envelopes that make it discreet for customers to leave as much as they want. I usually tip $20 for an hour but today I still tipped $10 for a 90 min session out of total social pressure. My massues was waiting in front for me with other customers around. Including the other employees. I don't like to feel hassled for a tip. It feels great to put an amount I see fit for a service I enjoyed. Give me the satisfaction of leaving a "good surprise" in an envelope. Dont wait for it in person. Its awkward. It feels pressured. I hope this helps others. If I knew my therapist wasnt going to be an expert thai massues I wouldn't have scheduled for 90 mins but maybe...
Read moreI hadn't been to this place for a long time but was in the area and looking for a massage. I had always had a good experience but did not on this occasion. I wasn't even going to write a review but I am in a decent amount of pain today. I didn't realize when she first came in but she was a very large woman. At one point she stepped on my back and I asked her to get off. She tried it again and told her again not to step on my lower back. I don't think she had too much formal training and the massage bordered on dangerous. She used her feet way too much and spent to much time in the same spots till she nearly bruised the area. It was a 90 minute massage and she used her feet for maybe over half. At that level of pressure you can't tell if the person your massaging is in discomfort. I also think she had trouble stabilizing herself and a number of times she put too much pressure. She put pressure on my head going backwards and I had to ask her to stop a number of times. For reference I have had a lot of massages and in a lot of different countries. This includes Thailand when I lived there. This was nothing like a Thai massage, it was more like a...
