They do the most here and really care for all these sweet babies! The pet i thought i truly wanted, had already gotten adopted by the time i was able to get there. But, One sweet counselor there helped consider others and find my first baby girl 😻 I cannot wait to take her home! ***Update**** I love her and I will never relinquish her at all, but the humane society gave me a sick cat… i found out three days in by coming home to worms on my bed!! 😩 long story short, instead of my FREE wellness check, ive spent a lot of money so far in vet bills and havent even had her for one week! Come to find out, she has 2 types of giardia (contagious to humans), 1 type of coccidia, and 2 types of tapeworms. I live in a very clean apartment with no one here but myself, and no other animals. She has also never been outside besides to transfer her via the box she was in. Again, I love her already and cannot give her up, but I cannot believe that this is the result that was given to me. Especially because I’m immunocompromised as well. And basically trying to clean my whole house asap now. All within these days had been A LOT, while working, while taking care of a sick cat and trying to prevent sickness to me! Not to mention, having to keep her locked in the bathroom where she doesn’t understand why im doing that and shes cries… ive reached out to the humane society for help and they told me medical will call me back. Ive had to keep reaching out multiple times and wait for a call back. But here we are radio silence from medical since yesterday morning when i let them know what was going on and sent over her medical records as well. Multiple people have told me that they’re probably not gonna help me and appears they were right. Even though i was told i was getting a healthy 6 month old cat. What was supposed to be one of the happiest, best experiences of my life, has turned into devastation, expenses, EVERYWHERE, and massive distress. I would have a difficult time ever going back here again sadly because the trust is broken. I cannot believe this is happening. And again, i feel the worst for my poor baby. šŸ˜” and its going to be a long process just to (hopefullyšŸ™šŸ¤žšŸ») get her healed. 😢 pretty tough when i work a lot and have zero help. So awful that this is the result of adopting a pet for the very first time. šŸ˜”

My husband and I recently visited this shelter in late October with the intention of adopting a dog. While we were excited about the process, our experience left much to be desired. We initially inquired about seeing 5-7 dogs, but upon arrival, we were told to wait for assistance. It took over two hours before someone was able to help us. When we finally met with a staff member, we were informed that we could only see up to three dogs, which we found frustrating. Every time we asked for clarification, the response was dismissive, simply stating, ā€œThat’s our policy.ā€ We met two pitbulls and decided to adopt one, who we named Zeus. Although I had recently overcome a phobia of dogs, I asked if we could go home and sleep on the decision to ensure we were ready. Unfortunately, we were told that wasn’t allowed due to a ā€œfirst-come, first-serveā€ policy, which made us feel pressured to make a rushed decision. Despite this, we couldn’t leave Zeus behind due to the condition he was in, and we brought him home. Shortly after bringing Zeus home, he began breaking out in hives and experiencing severe allergy symptoms. The shelter had told us very little about his history, only mentioning that his previous owners became homeless. They failed to provide critical details about his health, diet, or even his approximate birthdate. Over the past few months, we’ve had to visit urgent care multiple times and have spent thousands of dollars trying to diagnose and treat his health issues. After extensive allergy testing, we discovered Zeus is allergic to numerous things, including the very food the shelter was feeding him. The lack of transparency and care from the shelter is deeply disappointing. They didn’t provide us with proper health records, disclose any information about his allergies, or prepare us for the care he required. Their lack of communication has placed an unnecessary burden on us as new pet owners, but we remain committed to giving Zeus the love and care he deserves. While we are grateful to have Zeus in our lives, this experience has been upsetting. I sincerely hope the shelter improves its practices for the sake of the animals in their care and the families who adopt them. Dogs like Zeus deserve better, and so do the people who are willing to open their homes and hearts to them.

Update: the guinea pig i brought in made an amazing recovery after spending months and months and thousands of dollars saving his life. I already knew about the teeth trimming. I had already done that when i stopped in here 4 times. 4!!!! 450 each time!!! To trim his teeth. I told you I had already done that 4 times. How do you know he wouldnt get alomg with other guinea pigs? You dont know my pig. Do you know that the second i left here i went to wee companions and i got a pig that he LOVED and got along with within 10 minutes. You were wrong. I have had my pig for 5 years. I think I know him better than you do.and I wasn't trying to get an unneutered female.. you know this. I told you I wanted either a boy or a neutered female. You are just causing people to go buy animals at pet stores. Which is encouraging more inbreeding and the chances of people buying cages to small. You were beyond ridiculous that day. Yall have so many animals but you don't want to adopt any of them out. It's your own fault you have so many. There was no reason whatsoever I couldn't have gotten another pig that day. Because I told you that my pig had his teeth trimmed that day? And he wasn't feeling good due to the Anastesia. That's it.... that was your insane reasoning for not adopting out another pig to me. How come wee companions had no problem whatsoever adopting one out to me? They seen him. I told them the same thing I told you. You people are just CRAZY

place is beyond ridiculous. There is no reason why I can't adopt a guinea pig from you. I have 2 other piggies. One his teeth needs trimmed. And the other one was completely healthy. The one that needs his teeth trimmed is the reason you guys refused to let me adopt a guinea pig?? He's still eating things on his own and still comes and begs at the fridge for vegetables. I wanted a girl to make him happy because I don't know how long he has left with us. Due to the fact the vet couldn't trim his teeth because he was breathing abnormally under anesthesia. So they woke him up right away. I need another guinea pig anyway if I lose this one. GOD FORBID! but then I'm stuck with just 1 piggie. Which is actually so important to have 2 that it is illegal in switzerland to only have 1Ā”! You have like 88 guinea pigs and you won't give me one because ONE OF MY PIGGIES NEEDS A TOOTH TRIM. I also wanted a girl who was NOT neutered because I wanted a few of his babies!! They also absolutely refused to give me a girl that wasn't fixed??? How is that YOUR decision??? Because you say that you have to many guinea pigs there?? So? What does that have to do with freaking me? I'm not bringing the freaking things to you man... thanks alot. You know what you just did??? You just made me to to a PET STORE and buy one there. So you did NOTHING bit make things worse for everyone.... So now I'm encouraging pet stores to breed more guinea pigs. I went 30 miles out of my way to even freaking come here. That's a really stupid reason not to give me a guinea pig. You are all acting like you are controlling our lives when we leave your building. Also the cats are being...

TL;DR: Frustrating experience with rabies license renewal. If your correct proof of rabies is rejected, contact the humane society directly, as they may continue to reject it without explanation.

If you're renewing your rabies license online, be sure to reach out to the humane society directly if your submission is rejected. I had my submission denied twice, even though I provided all the necessary information. The issue appeared to be a technical error on their end—when they tried to view my file, they received a 404 error. However, instead of troubleshooting the issue, they simply rejected my submission.

I contacted DocuPet, the third-party service handling online renewals, and they were just as confused. Everything I submitted seemed correct. One representative speculated that the reviewer might not have scrolled through all the pages and helped me adjust the information to fit on one screen. This was surprising, as someone with document processing experience, where we’re trained to review all pages for necessary information. Another representative advised me to email my proof directly to the humane society.

When I called, I spoke to the supervisor. I expressed my frustration of having my document consistently rejected when it's correct and having to do all these in additional steps to ensure my documents were processed. She seemed frustrated with having to deal with the situation. She explained there was a error when viewing the file and when I asked why this was occurring, she mentioned that only IT can explain why it was occurring. She also indicated that the error was on DocuPet side, when I pressed her on why the issue wasn't flagged earlier so IT can resolve it instead of just denying something due to internal IT issues, she couldn't provide a satisfactory answer and quickly rushed me off the phone. It’s frustrating that it’s so easy for them to accept my renewal fee but so difficult to process my documents. It raises the concern that if you miss the grace period after a rejection, you might end up paying extra to renew your license.

To save others the time and frustration I experienced, I recommend proactively contacting the humane society directly if you encounter issues with your renewal. Unfortunately, you’ll have to go above and beyond to ensure your dog’s rabies license gets...
