Don't come to this place or don't take classes with Suzanne Lederer. My partner and I came with my service dog and after paying, sitting and setting up we were told by the instructor that trained service dogs weren't allowed and so i could not take the class. My partner who is a 200 hr yoga teacher, PhD in clinical psychology specifically trained in trauma, and Reiki master knows very well how inappropriate and VERY discriminatory it is that someone would just assume that a trained service dog who has been exposed to dozen of yoga, meditation, breathing, reiki classes would get disregulated and cause any type of harm to anyone. I'm diagnosed with PTSD and I know extremely well how well behaved and peaceful she is. Even under 'stresful' circumstances as she said. It is very dissapointing for someone who supposedly embodies a spiritual path to be this discriminatory and ignorant by also create conflict and in front of everybody claim that a service dog would create trauma for other. There is a reason I have a service dog and she already triggered some of my traumas.
Before we were discriminated on and unfortunately kicked out, we were able to talk to some of the people in the class. It was apparent that the teacher does not know what proper Dirgha Shvasam(or Dirgha Pranayama) is. 3 part breathing is done through the nose and NOT through the mouth as they advertised on the website and what the students said. We were also surprised the students did not know what the proper way should be, they thought that three part breathing is through the mouth and is not considered pranayama. Please be aware that this is very dangerous.
We have reported the studio and Suzanne Lederer to the ADA as they have broken the federal law by asking us to leave. My dog did nothing wrong as she was only laying down waiting for the class to start. If at any point she had misbehaved I would have gladly gone out by myself but they did not even attempt to ask us how she would do in the class. Please don't support places that discriminate disabled people and do not embody core values of yoga, meditation, and general human decency. Please train your staff in ADA, Federal Law and what it actually looks like to be...
Read moreI’ve been attending Sojourn classes regularly for roughly 6 months. This place has become such a refuge for me. So many times, I have left the studio feeling altogether centered, held, and strong.
Jake’s classes are simply magical and I wish I could attend them more often. Casey, Kelly D, and Kellie L each give me progressive challenges and a really lovely sense of calm and safety to settle into while I meet those challenges. Yin classes with Josie and Bridey are yummy. There are several other healers and instructors that I could and should mention — and several more who I have yet to experience due to their schedules not aligning with mine. However, I would be remiss if I failed to mention one other instructor/healer who has become dear to me…Olesya guides flow classes, yin classes, sound healing, and breath work and always has me feeling so very grounded and connected. She’s got this one hidden gem of a class on Wednesday mornings (9AM — come join!) that is more of a workshop sort of class to help with alignment and postures. It culminates into a nice flow — but myself and several others who have come in with pain or a challenge getting into a pose (inversions, anyone?) — have often left with significantly more confidence and strength that we can then bring to the rest of our practice (and life). Personally, I had developed lot of instability and a sharp pain in my right shoulder, particularly in chaturanga. With her help, I’ve never felt stronger.
Sojourn is a yoga studio that really helps bring you back to yourself. It truly embodies the full philosophy of yoga and not just the physical. I’m positive I made the right selection joining this studio and look forward to the...
Read more✨ Review: Suzanne’s “Reset Your Central Nervous System” Workshop at Sojourn ✨
Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to attend Suzanne’s “Reset Your Central Nervous System” workshop at Sojourn, and it was truly a special experience. From the moment I walked into the serene environment, I could feel the calming energy that Suzanne and the space provided.
The workshop was thoughtfully designed to guide us through a series of exercises and practices aimed at resetting our nervous systems. Suzanne’s expertise and compassionate approach made the entire process feel safe and nurturing. Her guidance was both soothing and empowering, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience.
Through a combination of breathing techniques, gentle movements, and mindfulness exercises, I felt an immediate release of tension. By the end of the session, I genuinely felt physically, emotionally, and spiritually 10 pounds lighter. It was as if a weight I didn’t realize I was carrying had been lifted.
The sense of community and connection with other participants added to the overall impact of the workshop. Sharing this journey with others who were also seeking balance and tranquility created a powerful and supportive atmosphere.
I left the workshop feeling rejuvenated and with a renewed sense of clarity and calm. Suzanne’s workshop was not just an event; it was a transformative experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to reset and recharge.
Thank you, Suzanne, for such an incredible and healing experience at Sojourn. I can’t wait for...
