Wholesale Flowers and Supplies — Attraction in San Diego

My husband raves about Wholesale Florists, having purchased a number of lovely arrangements for me and even my gorgeous wedding bouquet, which he ordered for our surprise elopement.

I went in today to order a single arrangement for a friend who lost her dog. I was hoping to choose something with the designers’ help today, before an appointment I had in another part of town, and then come back to pick up a fresh, beautiful, custom arrangement tomorrow. The store was busy, and the first person I spoke to told me they were taking orders for 14 or 15 days out. Seeing my confusion, she told me I could pick loose flowers from the walk-in refrigerator and take them to the design desk, but that she would recommend picking up my order by 5:30 today, not tomorrow. I looked at what was available and also at the pre-made arrangements in the cooler to get an idea of what I’d like and then headed to the design desk. They told me the earliest I could get my arrangement was at noon the next day, which was better for me anyway. I showed one of the designers two pre-made bouquets, saying I would like something similar to one in a container like the other. She did not offer to switch the containers or to make what I’d asked for overnight for pickup tomorrow. She told me they were both nice and that everything in the cooler was freshly made today, but did not offer any alternatives. I gave up and took the pre-made arrangement I liked better to the counter. While I was halfway through the checkout out process, a second designer told me that the one I’d chosen was made yesterday, and that there was another one just like that made today, and he checked, but nope, sorry, they sold that one already. He didn’t offer any additional alternatives.

I left the store with a two day old arrangement that I had to get to my house before my appointment so that it wouldn’t get hot in my car. The box the cashier made for it was not snug enough to hold the arrangement upright, and it spilled refrigerated water in my front seat.

It’s still pretty and I’ll try to get it to my friend tonight, before it degrades, but I really didn’t have the experience that my husband and all these other reviewers seemed to have. The people were very nice and helpful when we went in but I was not thrilled with the flowers we got from them for my wedding. I opted to have them make my bouquet and order the flowers for the bridesmaids bouquets and have my friend make those. I should have gotten them elsewhere and had her make mine as well. We ordered purple flowers for the bridesmaids and were given pink, we picked out white calla lilies with a little purple on the stem- we were given plum flowers that clashed with the ties. My bouquet was the most frustrating part of it all. I have attached the picture that I showed to them and emailed to them for reference. It was a bouquet that waterfalls over. I also attached what they gave to us- please keep in mind that my friend fixed the bouquet pictured. When I picked it up, it covered my face. It did not flow over at all and was not what I asked for. Maybe I should have gone in and reconfirmed everything the week prior but I trusted them and that’s on me. I can’t say enough good things about this place & its people. I have been buying large flower orders for a few months now from here and I always have the best experience, not to mention the quality of the flowers are the best I’ve come across here in San Diego. There’s a wholesale place closer to home for me, but I always make the longer trip here because nothing can beat their quality & prices. I have a small business & ordering my flowers through here is the most efficient and takes a lot of stress off my plate. Whenever I have events the one compliment I always get is how great the quality of the flowers are AND how good they smell! I cannot stop recommending this place to everyone that is looking for flowers! Lastly, the people here are so kind. Cristian is extremely friendly whenever he helps me. There is another woman who always helps me as well I just always forget to get her name, she is so helpful. Whenever I place an order and if there’s a flower they don’t have in stock, they always make sure to call me ahead of time and offer a replacement that is very similar.
