Balboa Park's updates have done wonders for the park. The new play structures are great for kids - big and little. The "big kid's" structures are separate from the "little kid's" so the little ones don't get run over. There are newly surfaced tennis courts and two basketball hoops for "half-court" games or shoot around. The pool is heated, but a little run down. It's also really dog friendly with many locals bringing their furry friends to play. Most owners are good about letting dogs off-leash if they are well trained and get along with other dogs, but some don't abide by this etiquette.
