San Francisco's Most Beautiful Playground

San Francisco's Most Beautiful Playground

This park is wonderful for visitors of all ages, offering plenty of open space, a scenic lake nearby, and clean public restrooms, making it convenient for families. It’s especially great if you have children, with a variety of play areas to keep them entertained for hours. One thing to be mindful of is the concrete slides in the section for older kids—some children like to use cardboard or other makeshift items to slide faster, which can be risky. Encouraging safe play is important. Overall, it’s a beautiful, family-friendly spot that I’d definitely recommend for a fun day outdoors.

The only natural lake in SF is centries old, the history of our beautiful city began in this area. With restoration to the lake back in 2014-2016 natural habitat are thriving in the lake. I give it 4 stars because of the hwy 1 that runs along side the lake which spoils it for me, I hope not you.

Beautifully renovated space but... the concrete slide which is the centrepiece of the playground is extremely dangerous. My daughter flew down it, spun 180 and ended up going head first onto the ground. Another child injured herself on it whilst I was there. I then banned my daughter from going on it. It is not for a five year old as recommended. Older kids will fare well I am sure. As it ages, the concrete will wear and create friction to slow kids from spinning around on it as several of the children did. The toddler playground also has slides which are unsuitable for young children - they are far too steep and my 16 month old couldn't climb up to get to them. There are only two swings for older children - and a queue around them of kids waiting turn. With all the space available it is a pity. The ground surface is great, sponge like and absorbent - good for tumbles and rainy winter days. Several parents and nannies commented around me on the perils of the slides in both the infant and older children playgrounds. Not the best first impression. As a parent of a toddler and a school-aged child I will not be returning in a hurry. And I...

This place is pure nostalgia for me. Brings me back to my childhood and my years in middle school. This will always be a treasure of a playground to me. Even as a full grown adult now, I find no embarrassment of going down the rock slide or taking a ride on the swings... I love this place and I love that it is secluded from the streets, where cars are driving because it seems more serene and peaceful when there are no cars driving by and no parking lots for people to hangout at... I find it super convenient that there is plenty of parking on the Funston Street exit from MLP. I actually enjoy the walk from Funston to the playground. I will come back here till the day I'm too...
