Absolutely stellar experience! I am doing two different types of pork roast for a big Christmas dinner, one Italian Porchetta (Jamie Oliver recipe), and a Danish Flæskesteg. Both cuts are a bit unusual. I went to one old and well known butcher shop in San Francisco, and had it mansplained to me in a rather arrogant way that those cuts were wrong, even though I brought the book with me to show photos. I went home and googled other butcher shops and found Olivier's. I emailed them and got a reply back within less than 5 minutes, telling me that of course they can help, and told me how to enter the special instructions on the order form. Two days before I go to pick up the meat they call me and asks if I want one of them scored Danish style! Heck yeah! As I went to pick up the meat today (first time visiting the store), I was blown away by how service minded ALL of them were. The guy behind the counter butterflied the porchetta in front of me just the way the recipe calls for (that the other store said was impossible...), and the Danish cut was perfectly scored for the crackling. Can't wait to get cooking! I came only to pick up these items, but they have SO much more! Everything looked super clean and professional, and I look forward to coming back. I'm telling all my Danish...

For health reasons, I limit red meat. When I want a steak or a rib roast, I make a 90-minute round trip to Olivier's.
They focus on rib eyes, rib roasts, and New York strips of prime grade and aging of 25 days, 45 days, 69 days, and sometimes longer. Always cut to order, and so if you want a thicker steak (as I often do), it's just a matter of asking. All pricey, but so worth it. You'll also reliably find filet mignon and less expensive cuts of beef like hanger steak and picanha.
Plus, several cuts of quality pork, chicken, duck. A number of fantastic sausages in different styles. Awesome offal like beef heart, tripe, kidneys, liver, pig trotters, tongue, marrow bones, and more.
If you're looking to make a stock, they often have bones and scrap parts for sale, all at a very low and reasonable price.
Plus, they have some high quality pantry items.

Read moreUnbelievable value and undeniable quality. I have routinely purchased primarily their marinated meats (whole chicken, chicken thighs, hanger steaks) and occasionally some of the higher end steaks and chops and have never been less than impressed by the quality and service.
Buying pre-marinated things is something I’ve never done before Olivier’s, as I’ve always felt that I am capable of getting better results myself. Olivier’s has proven me wrong - always spiced just right, a good range of flavor profiles, and a huge time saver when I don’t feel like cooking but don’t want to get mediocre take out.
They dry aged steaks have been restaurant quality, well butchered, and delicious. The staff is friendly and well informed enough to answer any question you may have.
Hope you get some duck back...
