Think of a movie set where everything appears perfect, the lighting is perfect, the props (in this case plants, flowers, trees and accessory items), are beautifully placed. Think "Production Designer", "Property Master", "Lighting Director," and "Greensman". Now think of your list of things to buy at the nursery. Just as you approach the entrance to the nursery remove your list from your pocket, take one last look then toss it. No matter how thorough you were in putting your list together, the instant you step through the entrance gate into the courtyard, you will see an array of the most beautiful and creatively arranged products you've ever seen. In the twenty-five foot walk to the entrance, you'll be inspired to come up with a new list. Once you step inside the store, you'll notice two registers on the left. Look for Ed, one of the nursery's more engaging and helpfu cast members. Ed is psychic. Besides knowing where things are, he's a mind reader who can just about guess what you thought you wanted, the reason you came in, and what it takes to satisfy you. I have been going to this establishment for about 30 years. My uncle, who is a gardener and could probably negotiate better prices with wholesalers, swore by these folks. Love,love love them. They rock my world. I created the most beautiful garden for my parents based on their advice, products and prices. When my parents died, friends of ours bought trees in their memory, and they have thrived. I have never had anything I bought from this establishment ever die on on me. They choose the best nurseries, and their customer service is amazing. Today, I just called up with a request for help in finding an elusive plant, and the young representative immediately directed me to the correct person. Subsequently, I told the young person, "Zoe" answering the phone, that "we loved them". Refreshing to hear a young person, fiercely responsive to a customer, respond that "Sloat loves us also and appreciates our business". How cool is that for personal customer service and appreciation?

Sloat, my first choice of nurseries in San Francisco since I bought my home here 34 years. ago. My first stop for plant and garden supplies because Sloat nurseries maintain consistent high business standards, quality suppliers, knowledgeable buyers and educated staff. Noticeable when entering the 3rd Avenue location I frequent most regularly, the plant reorganization this year greatly increased the number of vertical display tiers which enhanced visual grouping of plant specific characteristics and provided more space for them to increase the number of plant species and varieties offered. It is difficult to make significant improvement to a long established high quality business.
