My friend living in Japan basically wanted non-Asian based cuisines while visiting me in San Francisco. She's from LA, so I know I had to impress her with a good Mexican spot. So I took her here.

She ordered the tamales, and I got the plantain burrito. We both ordered an horchata. She loved it! Prices are standard, but she did get a pretty decent portion. Her order had 2 tamales, rice, and beans. She only could eat half. My burrito was also quite large. I only could eat a third.

Now, one of my favorite dishes is plantains with black beans and crema. To find it in burrito form is a dream come true! Both savory and sweet, all the flavors come together harmoniously rolled up in a tortilla.

It made a very good breakfast the next morning.

The restaurant is small, and you pick up your meal at the counter. Your order also comes with 1 basket of chips, and there's different salsas available.

The first time I came here, I had a panucho with one of their chicken moles. It was that dish that prompted me to come back here again. I definitely want to try more of the dishes available...

Let me start by saying that the food deserves 5 stars. We've ordered so much food from this place, and it's always delicious. We recommend the al pastor super burrito to everyone we know.

But tonight we tried to order using their online system, and after a glitch, our order was changed from delivery to pickup. We aren't able to do pickup, so my husband called to request our order be changed to delivery. After rude phone interactions with two different people at the restaurant and being told the order couldn't be changed to delivery, we canceled our pickup order and placed a new order for delivery, no glitch this time. 15 minutes after placing the new order, it was canceled by the restaurant. No phone call, no communication, just an automatic cancelation email from the online system.

I'm so disappointed. I loved supporting this restaurant. But I can't get past the rudeness and the fact that they canceled our order. And for what? So loyal customers, who can't do pickup, couldn't have dinner? Think twice about ordering from here if you have to interact with the...

My son and I are reviewing the tacos around the city and this is our first spot. My son ordered Taco de La Abuelita Chicken Mole Taco, and the Motuleno and I ordered the Cochinita and Chicken Mole. The Motuleno was solid, good flavor, home made tortilla and sauces you can choose from a sauce bar. We chose the Green Salsa, Mango, and the red/spiciest sauce available. All were good, the chips are thin and most were crispy. The Cochinita was my favorite as it had a bit of spice and the meat was moist and tasty. We both ordered the Michelada which gives you a choice of beer - my son says if you don't order with the Negro Modelo you shouldn't be ordering a Michelada :). My son gives this a 6.8 out of ten, and I give the whole experience a 7. My son would bring a friend for the whimsical way they present the Michaelada (beer upside down with Tamarin on the rim...

Was searching for Taquerias on the way back from Golden Gate Bridge and found Los Mayas close by. Went in around 2PM on a Tuesday and found a nice table in the corner. You order and pay at the counter and they call out your name when your order is ready. Really loved the Quesadilla (huge, very filling) and Tostada tacos, the Margarita cocktail was pretty good too. People I went with ordered tacos al pastor and chicken and they loved them too. One side of nachos comes free with every order, we ordered guac separately though, which was delicious. Really cool place, would love to try more dishes when I'm the city next time. Service was pleasant and fast.

Update: tried to enjoy my meal anyways until I saw pink chicken in mood and if you want to look at and say, "oh well, that's subjective", it's not. you can see white meat right next to the pink meat.... Honestly, good was mediocre at best. I order the mole. Should have known when I ordered that from a order and pay and then go or sit down. I've had over 100 different mole dishes and some very impressive ones at that. This didn't even come close. The beans were literally some kind of paste mixed with water. It literally shines... and then 2 small fried tortillas. I didn't ask for them to be fried and I wasn't asked. Presentation was good though.

I was quite surprised to see a Taqueria on this section of Clement street as it's almost all Asian, so when Taqueria Los Mayas popped up out of nowhere...I whipped it on in! I had Joe the plumber with me, and we had just parked in front of the Hardware store, and as we walked past it the hardware store owner came out ..pointed his finger at Joe, and said very loudly..Hey you, you pull up your pants this is Clement street! We had an Amazing lunch at the Taqueria Los Mayas, the huge 2 pound taco de birria was Spectacular! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆
