I recently attended the 5:00 PM Sunday Mass at St. Ignatius Church on December 29, 2024, and it was a truly uplifting experience. Father Bonfiglio, who celebrated the Mass, is a wonderful person. He warmly welcomed all visitors and expressed his gratitude multiple times for our presence, making everyone feel included and appreciated.
The church itself is a masterpiece of architecture, blending Italian Renaissance and Baroque elements. Its grandeur and beauty are awe-inspiring, with intricate details that captivate the eye. The serene atmosphere provides a perfect setting for reflection and worship. As one of San Francisco’s largest churches, its prominent hilltop location and twin spires make it a must-see landmark in the city.
I highly recommend visiting St. Ignatius Church, whether for Mass or simply to admire its architectural splendor. It’s a place where beauty, history, and spirituality converge, offering a memorable experience for...
Read moreThis review is for the Candlelight Concert featuring music from Coldplay and Imagine Dragons. While the church itself is beautiful, spacious as you would expect from a mix of Renaissance and Baroque architecture, the unlit interior as you enter at 6:30pm with only battery powered candles along the pews and pulpit didn’t provide much light to appreciate the beauty of the building. The performance itself was superb for a quartet but I did closed my eyes wanting to doze off for it seems it is better performed in a dinner setting while enjoying my food rather than feeling the hardness of what I’m sitting on while trying to see between heads that were in front of me. I paid extra for photos and you have your picture taken before the concert and all you get is one Polaroid/instant print of the poorest quality, not worth it. Overall, the concert was a good experience but looks better as an ad...
Read moreI attended a wedding at St. Ignatius Church on November 25, 2016. The location for the wedding ceremony was like a fairy tale. Tall ceiling with arches and intricate stained glass windows illuminating the interior. Stations of the Cross paintings on both sides of the church with two long columns of wooden pews that face the altar and the Cross. The altar, Cross and organ were underneath a tall, open dome with a skylight. The acoustics in this church were outstanding and the walk from the back of the church to the altar seemed never-ending. I could go on and on explaining how I marveled at the church, but you should really visit to have first-hand experience.
