I was a guest at the Stanyan Park Hotel for a three-week stay last month. I am writing to formally and urgently raise a complaint regarding a serious incident that occurred during my stay — involving a breach of privacy, an unfulfilled refund promise, and racially discriminatory treatment.I sent a personal email yesterday, but since I have not received any response from the hotel, I am uploading it here once again.During my stay, despite a clearly displayed “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door, a housekeeping staff member entered my room without knocking, waking me from sleep. This was a deeply distressing and unacceptable violation of my privacy. I reported the issue immediately and was told that one night’s stay would be refunded. However, no further action was taken, and even at checkout, I was simply told that the refund would be handled and that I could leave without concern.I trusted those assurances, but after returning to Korea and reviewing my credit card statement, I was shocked to see that the refund was never processed. In fact, the full two-week amount had been charged — including the night that was promised to be refunded. The first week was prepaid through a third-party site, while the remaining two weeks were booked directly with your hotel.Following the incident, my room was not reassigned to another housekeeper. I felt unsafe and uncomfortable, and as a result, I did not request any further housekeeping. I had to clean the room myself, take out the trash, and handle all responsibilities on my own for the remainder of the stay.As an Asian woman traveling alone with limited English proficiency, I felt extremely vulnerable, neglected, and disrespected. The lack of accountability and follow-up strongly suggests I may have been treated differently based on my race, gender, or language ability. This goes far beyond a simple service issue — it reflects a serious failure to protect and respect guests' rights and dignity. My entire family is outraged by this experience. It is no longer just my personal matter — it is now a concern for all of us.Although I initially intended to pay for the additional two weeks, I no longer believe payment is justified. Given the seriousness of what occurred and the complete lack of follow-up, I firmly refuse to pay for the two-week stay. Charging me under such circumstances is completely unreasonable.I am demanding two things:1. A formal written apology from the hotel for the incident and your failure to address it properly.2. Immediate cancellation or refund of the full two-week charge that was incorrectly billed to my card.Stayed: May 25~June...

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Stanyan Park Hotel in San Francisco, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish! Nestled in the heart of the city, the hotel offers the perfect blend of comfort, charm, and convenience, making it an ideal base for both tourists and business travelers alike.
From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and genuine hospitality. Led by Manager Bill Engelhardt, the staff's attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile made us feel right at home; we arrived late - too late for the complimentary wine hour - and the lovely gentleman at the Front Desk offered to pour us a couple glasses of (delicious) wine before continuing to shut down the dining room. Both morning and night, the front desk team was knowledgeable and helpful, offering great recommendations for local restaurants and attractions.
The hotel itself exudes a cozy, vintage charm that’s hard to beat. For the boutique genre that San Francisco is famous for, these rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated, providing a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. We particularly loved the exquisitely comfortable bed and the quiet, relaxing ambiance – a true retreat after a day of exploring the city.
What cannot be ignored is the privilege of Golden Gate Park. The hotel is just steps away, allowing for easy access to one of San Francisco’s most beautiful green spaces, what I dare call a forest in the middle of the city. Whether you enjoy a morning jog, a leisurely stroll, or exploring this National Treasure's many attractions, it's all right at your doorstep.
Additionally, the complimentary breakfast was a fantastic way to start each day. A variety of fresh options were offered, and the dining area was a comfortable, relaxing space.
Overall, I can’t recommend Stanyan Park Hotel enough. Its combination of location, charm, and exceptional service makes it a true gem in San Francisco. It was genuinely painful to leave. We’ll definitely be returning for...
Read moreEdited back to one star. I had a bucket list item to watch the sunrise over Golden Gate Bridge. My key was not working to get back inside at 5 AM. The desk attendant just sat there watching me struggle. I waved and was ignored, I mean, what in the holy heck! I will definitely spend the extra money for better service next time! I will not stay here again. We Sacramento Skate Ladies were going to rent a good part of this hotel for Skate week the 16th-21. I was sent to check it out. We will choose a hotel where we will actually be seen! 7/8/24
This was a grief trip. I’m a single woman and this is on my bucket list. I decided to stay here because of the reviews. I drove a very long way. Never have I stayed at a place like this, especially one that serves breakfast, where I have had to load my own bags onto the cart. I struggled to not have the rolling cart runn into any parked cars with the high San Francisco winds. I had to prop the front door open and the host at the desk watched me struggle the entire time while I was parked in the loading zone. my bags even toppled off the rolling cart as I struggled with the door and he just sat there.
I don’t even want to be here. I spent a lot of money to stay here for the weekend and rollerskate in Golden Gate Park. To ease my nerves and have a good time.
This sucks that I have not even unpacked my bags and I’m writing a bad review. I asked your host if he was a manager and he said he’s “just another guy that works around here”. I told him “it goes along way to be helpful”. It’s just plain human decency.
At least hold the friggin door so I can push the wheeled cart with my luggage inside. You even had onlookers questioning. Very poor taste. I will never stay here again. I wish I...
