A grubby, run down, workaday, always crowded store. No frills. Often the stench of fish and blood rotting greet your nostrils like a knock out punch, but just hold your breath and head to the produce section to recover. Usually very rude staff ( Won't even bag your groceries.) but they'll surprise you and act human on occasion despite your years of friendly and profitable patronage. Don't give in to rudeness- keep being friendly and cheerful. They work hard and probably need some kindness; they look like they are often under pressure and being watched by supervisors. Cheap produce, usually second rate but adequate; sometimes far better than Whole Foods. It depends. You have to be persistent. Hit or miss. The patrons are usually very nice and friendly, even answering questions about Asian produce or cuisine and how to cook things. They are the best part about the market. Read moreTheir security reprimanded me to stop taking photos of the prices. I told him "I can't compare prices?" He said "No!". When is comparing prices illegal? They are more expensive than other grocery stores, that's why they don't want you to compare their prices with other stores. Other stores are okay with it. The security's job is to prevent shoplifters. Why don't you reprimand shoplifters? It's the same thing as saying that it's also not allowed when someone who has a good memory (which I don't) and can remember the prices of the items and then goes in to other nearby stores to compare the price. I guess they sell out of fresh chicken pretty fast they only had pre-cut chicken parts left(wings, legs, breasts). They have a huge selection of fresh produce at great prices and several meats and seafood, also lots of beverages and sweets, teas, noodles, Yeo's soy milk! and more. Got 4 cans of Yeo's, Berkley 2% milk, 350g whole honey comb, broccoli, Chinese celery, ginger root, lemon grass, 2 oranges, 4 ears of corn, 4 lg Fuji apples, 2 tangerines and a small watermelon all for $29.71!!
