As luck would have it, the pencil ignition coils on my M3, which is known as a part not having the best service life, decided to pack-up and go on vacation. This is a super simple repair procedure. Since this repair shop did the work competently, I give them a good rating. I needed this service work done ASAP because I live in Sacramento and commute to San Jose for work.
The exception is that AAA's repair shop did try to "up-sell" my ignition coil replacement repair order by characterizing the condition of my spark plugs as being in poor condition. For background, I installed those NGK IRIDIUM sparkplugs; IRIDIUM tipped plugs have extraordinary service life, as in 100,000 miles without any visible electrode or tip degradation. All major manufacturers use Iridium plugs now because they simply fire hotter than copper. For reference, NGK plugs come straight from the production assembly line at BMW in Germany, with a difference that the dual electrode copper tipped plug is installed in the motorsport S54 straight six engine. AAA told me my Iridium plugs were worn and required replacement, which was a complete and utter lie to inflate the job cost. For the added $200 (guestimate: $100 parts + $100 for 1hr of labor time), I accepted it because I did not want their mechanic to "fix my car real good" in retaliation, for not accepting their money making mischaracterization of what was required to service my car.
I should give no stars for the deceptive practice, but hell with it, it's only a few Benjamins and not the end of the world. Sorry for being verbose, but just know what you are getting into...
Read moreIntelligent professional super dedicated team of automotive specialists! I highly recommend this service center because they did a great job on my brakes. I drive a Mercedes-Benz 2006 R350 which is a hunk a hunk of burning love! If you seen this car before you know that it's very difficult to have this type of high occupancy vehicle stop on the dime. Often, I drive in San Francisco up and down hilly roads and I must say I can stop with confidence-- I know because I've had to. The service was competitively priced but a lot less expensive than Mercedes-Benz dealership, where I usually have my car serviced. My AAA insurance agent recommended seeking automotive care with the AAA car center in San Jose. Their 24 month warranty, cost savings, and knowledgeable team made me take a chance. My car currently is out of warranty with Mercedes-Benz therefore I was willing to try a differential venue and I am happy I did so. Special thank you to Andrew, Boni, Vera, Alma, all the mechanics that work on my car in the palace, and to David who makes the best homemade cookies and sweet dishes ever! Kindest regards,...
Read moreI could give negative stars if there was an option. This is probably the worst auto repair experience and crazy considering this is associated with a brand like AAA. They prey on poor customers getting the car towed in with the AAA towing.
The front desk and manager are just thugs. They actually sound and act like thugs. Charged me for an hr of diagnostics and probably did 5 mins of actual work of trying to start the car and look under the hood. Recommended changing everything for a 10 yr old car.
When i declined the work, they asked me to pay $500 of storage fees at $75 a day when their own invoice says $25/day if the car is not picked 2 days after agreed upon work is done. Refused to even let me take my things from the car.
Kept increasing the storage fees to $1000 until I got help from their main walnut creek office, but still charging me $75/day and threatening to charge more if I dont come pick up same day. Thankfully the main office was able to help.
There is a guy called alexander valera who is so offensive and aggressive, I dont know why he is on the front desk.
Avoid this shop...
