DO NOT VISIT CALIBUNGA, IT IS NO WHERE CLOSE TO SAN JOSE RAGING WATERS IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE/ATTRACTIONS/RIDES.
We visited Calibunga and as usual we took the Seasonal pass. We have been visiting at this facility (under San Jose Raging waters park management) from the past 5 years with every year taking Season pass except last year as Raging waters announced closing and we were not aware of Calibunga taking over also we ended up buying seasonal pass of Fremont Aqua adventure last year. This year we took the season pass for all our family members as we used to buy this every year for Raging waters. Our first visit of Calibunga was absolutely horrible, here are all the problems in the order of criticality or priority. We were surprised to see so few people today as compared to all our past visits to Raging waters. We easily found the parking, but after visiting we realized why they do not have enough customers.
To be honest, we can definitely compromise on low options for slides and high prices, but the heated water is a deal breaker for us and we are not planning to visit this...
Read moreWent to the water park today and had pretty low expectations based on the recent reviews but it turned out to be a decent day. Yes like half the slides were closed but thankfully I was expecting that. Based on Calibunga’s Instagram I thought they replaced all the grass with turf but it was only in some spots which was disappointing.
There were a few things I was excited about based on the website that didn’t deliver. Like they said there would be an assortment of salads but they only had one in stock, they were supposed to have bars but apparently they don’t even have a liquor license, also I was really looking forward to the Pineapple Dole Whip but the employee said the machine was broken and didn’t know when it would be fixed. We ended up getting Dippin Dots for $6 but it came in a little pouch instead of a cup like last year which was definitely a rip off.
It was nice they had a food truck on site but they had a special menu just for Calibunga which was like a $4 upcharge on everything, since the regular menu and prices were displayed on their truck. The other thing I miss compared to previous years is they didn’t play any music which I think would have made the park a more fun experience, especially while waiting in line.
I for sure would have been pretty pissed if I paid the $50 single day admission for such a big downgrade from last year when it was Raging Waters. Fortunately the season passes are still a good deal so I hope Calibunga incorporates some of this feedback and provides a better experience as the...
Read moreI want to help get the reviews up for this place because it was pretty good. We spent the entire day here (2 moms and 3 daughters 8-11 years old) and had a great time! Yes, some of the slides are closed and the wave pool wasn't waving, but there are plenty of open slides and lots of fun to be had. I think folks are thinking this is a brand new park, but Calibunga took over for Raging Waters and did some nice upgrades. Some things still look oldish and faded but its fine. My daughter lost her glasses on one of the slides (Wear straps with glasses people!) and the lifeguards were so kind to us and dove into the pool to find them for her. We got a season pass and it is totally wort it because you get some Bring a Buddy free tickets and some other discount tickets. Some small recommendations I have is 1.) check all of the white lawn chairs. There seem to be hundreds of them out there and we saw several broken ones. I think that nothing would be lost of some of those lawn chairs got trashed. 2.) I know that they are working on making food options better. The food now is not great and DAMN expensive. I would have loved to style my kids out with lots of yummy food and treats but it is borderline ridiculous so we just got a couple of chicken nuggets meals and sodas to share (over $50). If food was more affordable, maybe more folks would order it and the park would look more celebratory with peeps eating and...
