In-N-Out Burger — Restaurant in San Jose

This In-N-Out is over of the better ones I've visited. They are always alert and attentive which is already much more than you get at other fast food places. Because of this, my order has never been messed up.

Aside from their quality and professionalism, the staff is always pleasant and chipper. I never get the vibe that the person helping me is put out, no matter how much I customize my order.

The food itself is everything you would expect to get from a good In-N-Out. And that should be the good of every chain restaurant: quality and uniformity tightly bundled in greasy little package.

The reason I give this location 4 stars instead of 5, might seem unfair to the restaurant, but is central to the overall experience. The shopping center they are located in just happens to be the most poorly engineered traffic-bomb in the entire South Bay.

Driving into the shopping center on Capitol and Tully is always an ordeal. Insufficient spaces, awkward angles, unavoidable bottlenecks, and only two ill-placed driveways all add up to a bad time. And if it's dinner time, forget it unless you have 2 hours to kill. I've decided to eat elsewhere, on this basis alone, more times than I can count.

All in all, it's got great food made by superior staff, but the location is rage enducing....

This In-N-Out Burger location is always extremely busy so be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes before your order is ready. Granted the burgers can be customized to your liking and are made to order, I noticed the patties at this location are consistently on the "well done" end. The patty was dry and not juicy at all - at least the quality of their ingredients for the lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles were fresh.

However I will give them credit for being a kid friendly location. Eastridge mall is right across the road so I can understand why this location is packed! There was a worker standing by the door offering each little child who entered a packet of stickers - that's a big plus! Finding a table to sit at may be quite the challenge but when there is one available, the workers are quick to clean and turn the table around!

Good place with good food, made fresh including the lemonade. The only concern was basically that when I was waiting for my order, a gentleman who works there was asking for people's receipts, and when he asked for my receipt, I asked him why he was collecting the receipts, and he told me that the manager just asked him to do it. I felt that it was unethical because customers have the right to keep the receipts and it is illegal for businesses to do that. If they made a mistake with a customer in terms of orders, then that is their problem but in reality they should not be doing that, in collecting the receipts. In n Out could be sued for doing that practice. Next time they ask for the receipts, just refuse to hand them over and tell them they have the right as a customer to keep the receipt and it is illegal for them to do it. If the manager doesn't know the rights of the customers, then they shouldn't be in that...
