UPDATE: Although I was quite disappointed by my visit to Tisane in April, I revisited Tisane on 05 May because I was craving Golden and Totaro. I usually order Totaro with 25% sweetness since it is a very sweet beverage overall, so I decided to try ordering Golden but with 50% sweetness, as Golden is also a sweet beverage, but my Golden beverage tasted very bitter like it had no brown sugar. Afterwards, I requested to add more sweetness to the Golden I was given, and it tasted somewhat better, but it still lacked the signature brown sugar taste. It was the first time I had a different experience with Golden. I did not expect the taste to change very much because whenever I request 25% sweetness for my Totaro, it still maintains the same flavor but with a more tolerable sweetness. On the other hand, the Golden that was prepared for me lacked its brown sugar sweetness completely. I recommend not changing the sweetness with Golden if you want to maintain the same flavor.
When I visited Tisane 08 April, I did not have the best experience. I wanted to try a different beverage on this visit, so I asked if I could request for a different beverage in case I did not like my first order, and the cashier was reluctant to agree. She asked someone else about my question and then told me that an exception would be made that time but not to make that request in the future. I no longer feel comfortable venturing to try different beverages on the menu. I am not sure why there was no assurance of satisfaction during that visit. I have a changed impression of Tisane's customer service and have lowered my rating to four (4) stars. If you already know what you like, stick with it, or else you may have an unwelcoming experience like me when requesting for a different beverage. If not, I would still recommend Golden or Totaro. Perhaps the management has changed. Regardless, I hope that Tisane sees my updated review and reconsiders providing a satisfaction guarantee. I still rate Tisane four stars because I continue to enjoy the taste of my favorite beverages which are unique to Tisane, and the menu prices are fair relative to other tea shops, but the customer service needs improvement.
In March 2022, Tisane increased its average beverage price to $5.75.
As of February 2022, most beverages on the menu now cost $5.50. While that price is not the most expensive price for tea, it is worth acknowledging. Customer service continues to be outstanding. On one trip, I ordered a drink with 25% sweetness, but when I received it, it tasted too sweet. When I told Tisane about it, I was immediately prepared another drink with no hesitation, and I was even allowed to keep the the original drink. I have also updated my favorite beverages to be Golden and Totaro.
Tisane offers a variety of tea at reasonable prices. As of October 2020, all of its beverages cost $4.95 (before tax) for about twenty ounces of tea (I do not know the exact volume of Tisane's cups), which is competitive value against most tea shops. Golden is a great choice for anyone who prefers the "typical" milk tea, but from what I have tried, my personal favorite teas are Blush; Totaro (taro milk tea); and Peach, Please. I also appreciate how some of the teas already come with add-ons, which means that there is no additional charge for the drinks that already have add-ons included. Extra add-ons (those not already included with a menu drink) cost $0.50 more each, whereas some competitors will charge more for any add-ons at all. With regards to customer service, I have never experienced any problems with Tisane's employees. Sometimes, the wait time for an order can take a little while, but overall, the wait time has never been excessive during my trips to Tisane. Tisane also offers a rewards program so that purchases made over time can accumulate towards future rewards, unlike...
Read moreTisane is located in San Jose, CA near raging waters and in an outdoor shopping center. Inside of the boba place looked like a nightclub theme which I thought was cool because you feel you're at a nightclub but you're not. This boba place felt more modern than other traditional boba shops I have been to and the drinks also gave it that “nightclub” feel which I thought was interesting. The staff was very nice to me and my friend and we got four of their new drinks which were their tiger milk, kiwi to my heart, bae-nana, and white rose. All of the drinks were refreshing and delicious and now, I will review all of the drinks.
I will start with my favorite drink which was their bae-nana with grass jelly. I loved the banana flavor you get in this drink! Ahhh you really taste the ripe banana in this drink and the drink wasn’t too sweet for me. I liked the sugar level that was defaulted and the grass jelly was soft. Perfect topping on this drink! Loved the flavor a lot and overall, my favorite drink I highly recommend!
The kiwi to my heart was the next drink I tried. I like the sweetness that the drink has and I thought it wasn’t too sweet. The strawberry hearts were a nice chewy addition to the drink however, I thought the drink needed more kiwi because I didn’t taste a strong flavor of kiwi. Not my favorite drink but it was nice to drink.
The tiger drink with boba is their newest item on the menu. It features the brown sugar in the drink, creating a “tiger stripe” effect on the drink. I like how much brown was on the drink and then when you sip the drink, it was sweet and you get that brown sugar boba taste. I appreciate how the boba was fresh and soft; however, I thought the taste of the boba was too mushy for me. It wasn’t chewy and was more on the mushy side than when you really chew on the boba. I think they did overcook the boba however, the drink itself was really delicious. It satisfied my sweet cravings especially with that brown sugar tiger effect.
The last drink I will review is their white rose. Loved this drink too because you do get that strong hit of rose when you sip the drink. They balanced the rose flavor with the sweetness very well and I thought the addition of the red hearts worked as well with this drink. The drink looks beautiful and the taste was excellent.
Overall, I do like Tisane serving up modernized flavors while still keeping the traditional tea flavors in their drinks. This place also does a good job with following COVID safety guidelines and keeping their customers safe as they can. I highly recommend this place, this place is a must-try in...
Read moreNo point in ever having any other boba than Ume Tea, Chicha San Chen, or T%. I should just give up on trying new boba, because none of them ever lives up to my top 3.
The person who said the boba was too hard for them must have no teeth because they were so soft and mushy I could barely distinguish each individual pearl. It was just a mouthful of sticky goo which reminded me of something else, IYKWIM.
0% sweetness was still insanely sweet. I picked the Basic as the best bet for not being too sweet (everything else is fruity or taro-y or literally has the word "sugar" in the name), and it was still undrinkably sweet. I wasn't sure if they forgot to make it not sweet or if it's just that their 100% would kill a bull moose.
They remade it for me and it somehow was even sweeter(!). I thought I was going crazy! I appreciate the effort, though.
There's not even another drink to exchange it with that looks like it could be less sweet, if they even are willing to replace, instead of just remake, a drink. I just gave up at this point. 5 stars for service. They were really cool about it and didn't make me feel like a jerk. IDK why that other guy made such a stink about their return policy. Instead of fretting about "what ifs," don't worry about it until it happens. They'll make you whole. But if you ask ahead of time you just look sus, like you're planning to do it.
I could do without the screaming, shrieking, running teenagers. That's the kind of behavior I expect from little kids, not near adults.
Also, Google Maps' idea of "not too busy" is cray. If a line out the door that goes all the way to the nail place next door at 11pm on a Tuesday night is not busy, I'd hate to see what "as busy as it...
