Neptune is amazing and they take Covid-19 very seriously, more details at the end of my review. Other reviews have said that this store has everything, and yes this store has a lot, they even have some ADA products. I was looking for aquascaping tools and root tabs among other things, they had 3 brands of tabs for me to choose from, most stores donât even have them, and the stores that do have them are having trouble keeping them in stock these past 6 months. Selection of bloodworms is the same you usually have one if any, Neptune had a few brands for me to choose from in their freezer, as well as a lot of other wonderful foods. Regarding dried foods there was a huge selection that I could only dream of, so the quality of food we can now feed my godsonâs fish is great. Not everything is on their website; many items are only in their store.
We purchased a yellow Dwarf Gourami and 3 Neon Tetras for his tank as well. They have been in their quarantine tank since coming home on 3/26 and are doing great, no signs of illness or anything.
Now regarding Covid-19 all employees were wearing masks correctly, there are signs on the floor spaced 6â apart so people know where to stand in line, only 2 people and 1 employee is allowed in the freshwater fish aisle at a time and when that limit is met they have a cable to close it off. There is also a sign at the front of the store that is a temperature check station for employees. When we were there all customers with the exception of a baby (who shouldnât be wearing one) were wearing masks, and everyone was keeping their distance from each other. The employees were also giving you plenty of room. They were taking it very seriously; it was all communicated effortlessly and professionally. It was more well done that I have seen in many large chain stores. Neptune obviously values its customers and employees...
Read moreVisited Neptune a couple of weeks back and was shocked at how staff handled the fish. Although I understand there was an emergency & staff had to leave and finish the transactions quickly. There was no care by staff when fishing guppies out of the tank and into the plastic container before placing them in the bag. I had bough 2 guppies, which were swimming perfectly fine in the store tanks. The beautiful orange guppy I bought died a few days after acclimating it to my tank and the other beautiful yellow guppy just passed from symptoms that lead me to believe it sustained injury when it was transferred from the tank to the plastic container before being placed in the bag. Employees handle the fish with their hands and have very little care with the pets their customers bring home. I hope management emphasizes to their employees better care and attention to the fish they sell to their customers. Safe to say that I wont be coming back. TLDR: Staff is very rough with fish. Both fish of the fish bought at store died. One rather quickly and another from faulty air bladder. Staff handle fish with their hands when they cant catch them with the net. Won't be...
Read moreI purchased a $32 piece of driftwood with Java fern attached from Neptune Aquatics (see photo), expecting a clean, safe product for my turtle ecosystem tank. What I got was the opposite of quality. ⢠The driftwood continuously shed dark debris into the tank, turning the water murky brown within hours, even after soaking it in potassium permanganate. It severely disrupted my biofilter cycle and beneficial bacteria development. ⢠Worse, the driftwood was infested with pest snails â I discovered eggs and baby apple snails (Pomacea) shortly after introduction. This is completely unacceptable and poses a serious risk to any aquatic setup. ⢠The wood itself seemed untreated, flaky and poorly processed, releasing particles even after rinsing and soaking.
I trusted Neptune Aquatics for healthy livestock and clean hardscape, but this was a waste of money and a threat to my tankâs balance. Avoid buying driftwood or any attached plants from this store unless they can guarantee proper cleaning and quarantine.
Disappointed and frustrated. I wonât...
