I finally get to report the treatment meted out by their stellar Front Desk duo (a couple yrs ago) - a lady named Ella and some stud, Allen Anderson.
I stayed here for just 1 night. It all began when I called the front desk (from my hotel room's landline desk phone) at 10 am to extend the room by 1 day. After I explained what i needed, the front desk responded with a clueless "how can I help you?" I could sense the front desk was not in a good mood. I repeated my request to extend. She asked to come down to reception "immediately." Good hotels extend over phone, but even the bad ones just ask to visit front desk to rekey when free (Yes I know cards need to be rekeyed) but very few refuse and ask to come down "immediately". I tell them I am working remotely and need to stay online for some time. After 3rd request, she agreed to extend. At this time the receptionist, Ella, was starting to slur her words (heavy asian / chinese accent). she was eating half her words . Note: i was using a hotel room landline to call the front desk. She couldn't answer anything further and started ignoring me entirely. Now, I couldn't make out if the room was actually extended or I misheard, so I asked to confirm the extension. That's when she "lost it" and shouted, "i dont know what's wrong with your phone, but I am screaming down here." I was a bit taken aback and didn't know what to but said 'thank you'. she hung up without another word. After the call, I decided to leave this place (cancel extension). I called the front desk to request cancelation. This time, a male person answered the phone. As soon as I mentioned my room number, he let out a huge sigh and hung up! I called again. The same guy answered and then the unbelievable - he uttered a spanish curse word - and hung up again. I called a 3rd time, the guy repeated the curse word and put me on hold.
5 minutes later , i hear a loud banging on my front door! A lanky well-built guy with a menacing look is at the door. I open it. For a moment, physical altercation seemed imminent as guy was dangling his arms around to throw a punch. He begins screaming at the top of his voice "YOU are not answering the phone" "reception has called YOU multiple times" "we are worried about YOUR safety" "i was right next to Ella when she was calling YOU back from reception" "No, you are mistaken, YOU are the one not responding" "No, its a FACT that YOU did not answer the phone MULTIPLE times"
👏👏
me: "whats your name" "Allen"
me: "are you the guy at the reception who answered my phone?" allen : "yes"
me: "whats with the curse words?" allen: "i dont know about it"
me: "you can look forward to a complaint" allen: "eh, i handle complaints here. It'll come to me"
me: "i am vacating your goodam room, leave me alone for 5 minutes so i pack."
Within 10 minutes, i checked out at the front desk. That's where i met Ella. She seemed calm but visibly nervous . me: "whos in the empty desk next to you?" ella: "Allen"
me: "does Allen handles Front Desk calls?" ella: "yes, he is the only male answering front desk calls"
i ask for his business card. she hands a card from his desk . it reads, "Director of Operations - Allen Anderson" 🤡
as I turn away and exit the hotel , this Allen guy comes running out and asks, "Are you leaving already?". This place is definitely the real "hotel california" - cant even leave...
Read moreMy Wife, Son and I stayed on 9/26-9/27/22. The Hotel staff were friendly, and the Hotel was clean. We are from the Orange County area, so we were expecting to pay a premium price for a room. Not being too familiar with the area, we priced a few hotels before deciding to stay here. We were visiting my wife’s family so we were just staying the night. I was surprised to be charged for parking, but due to the surrounding area at night it became apparent to me as why. Although I didn’t see any security on site, I was pleased to see that my vehicle was there in the morning. The night we stayed, there were quite a few vagrants loitering outside the liquor store that is located right next door to the Hotel. I’m use to smelling the aroma of Marijuana, and that night was on point. I can’t stand the smell.I was also surprised to smell it when we arrived to our room. The loud neighbors across the hall were having a smoke out session and I had to ask my wife if we requested a smoke free room. Luckily the smell didn’t effect our rooms smell, which was surprisingly pleasant upon arrival. The room was very clean, well stocked with towels, soap, shampoo and any other accommodations that we needed. I only have two complaints about the stay : one, The air conditioner was extremely loud and kept kicking on and off for the couple hours I could stand to have it on. Two: the door between the rooms had a broken deadbolt lock that just spun around that would not latch. While I was sleeping, my wife panicked because she said that she heard someone attempt to open the door by rattling the bolt of the door. By the time I had checked, whoever was rattling the door was done doing whatever they were doing. But other than that, the stay was pleasant. Knowing that we were located close to the airport, we expected to hear the loud roar of planes taking off, and being next to the street tram transportation, we heard the ringing of the bell for most the night, but not unbearable. It was a good stay, for the most part. For a Tuesday night, for one night it was a little over $200.00. If your in that area, the price is comparable to a few others in that area. Staff, Nice....
Read moreThe bathroom floor in my room was covered in water upon arrival. I reported it to the front desk and a maintenance person soon arrived to repair it. He decided there wasn't anything to repair and simply mopped up the water. The next morning the floor was covered in water again. I reported it to the front desk again as I was leaving for a conference for the morning. When I arrived later that afternoon the problem was finally fixed. However, rather than deal with this hassle, they should have offered to move me to a different room, which they never did.
The next night I stopped down at the desk at around 10pm to get some juice or coffee in the lobby. There was no complimentary juice, water, or coffee available which I found shocking. These simple amenities are almost always available at nearly every IHG property I've ever stayed it. The desk staff told me to go across the street to the gas station to get juice, or to use the coffee maker in my room.
The day after that I stopped down to get some dental floss. I was told there was none at the desk, but that I could buy some at the hotel store. The store didn't have any dental floss either.
The room they gave me possessed terrible lighting and no properly located electrical sockets. There was 2 desk lamps in the bedroom and a light near the door entrance - that was all. The desk lamps in the bedroom area didn't provide nearly enough illumination for doing simple tasks like reading. When I tried to iron some clothes, I found there was not a single electrical socket on any of the walls near the ironing board, or in the bedroom. I had to move the ironing board near the bathroom entrance to have access to a wall socket that was in the bathroom.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed with this hotel. Platinum members should never receive the treatment I did. I'll stay at a different IHG property on my next business trip...
