Roberto Antonio Balermino Park — Attraction in San Jose

Not sure why this has four stars. Drab, all-metal structures, so it’s kind of hard to go out and play during the summer. Picnic tables are dirty and are vandalized. Floors of the playground are stained/torn and could use a good power clean. The backboard of the basketball hoop is broken. The park has limited to no parking (no parking lot, only street parking but it’s usually all occupied by cars from the neighboring residences. It’s on Almaden Road/Expressway, a main street with lots of fast cars, and it’s located next to a bunch of auto body shops/warehouses. Homeless don’t seem to linger here but they do pass by. The surrounding neighborhood is not really walkable (due to traffic and being in the Alma area) so I suppose if you lived in the apartments/condos next door this would be convenient, but I’d rather drive to another park with better safety, features, and parking. I love this place. From riding bikes, scooters, or just plain walking/running 🎽 around using the track and field or playing w/the kids at the playground, is fulfilling. 💯 💪. Family-oriented and most definitely a place to display basketball 🏀 skills as it offers a full court w/ adjustable rim height. It's a pretty modern style playground with play structures for both toddlers and bigger kids. Lots of dogs on leashes playing in the grass field. This park is one of my kids' favorite parks to go to, but the only thing I don't like is that there are no bathrooms there or even close by. There is also limited benches and virtually no shade, so hot days...
