Okay, so I bought victorian ruffle bloomers from this so-called shop. I got alot of the money as a christmas present so that I could get them. I was so excited to get them. I can't say that I'm happy anymore. I was at first, but before half a year was over, there were holes in my bloomers. And I always washed them gently like I do with my other bloomers. These have cost me alot more than any other bloomers I've bought. And I had to pay alot just to get the package from the post office when it finally arrived, due to me living in another country. The amount was over tousand kr. in my valuta. And yet they are the first to go. The other ones I have, have great quality, despite having a nice, affordable price. These, however, do NOT stand up to my expectations or any standards. I didn't use them much either, and when I did, I was careful with them. I complained to the shop, and they tried everything to not give me my money back. I got a few coins eventually today, but that was very far from half of the amount I have paid for it. Do NOT buy from this shop, it's a total scam, they will only rip you off. You will only get bad quality for an unreasonable price. I have photos to...
Read moreI bought a gunbelt from them last month. It's a handsome and well-made piece of work--but I couldn't keep it on! I tried buckling it as you would a conventional belt, but it kept coming undone within minutes. I was particularly bewildered by the prong of the buckle seeming to be upside down. Finally, instead of tugging the belt through the buckle and then inserting the prong into the nearest available hole in the usual way, I began by inserting the prong into a hole and then folding the frame of the buckle all the way to the right. The belt stays up now (and can easily be taken off by grasping rhe belt on both sides and pulling outwards). Given the unconventionality of the belt, I think including instructions with the belt or on the website would have been in order.
LATER--I was promptly contacted by Historical Emporium about this review. They asked me to send a photo of the gunbelt and indeed, it was defective. They replaced it at no charge. I've been renewing my wardrobe with them ever since, and their promptness and serve--not to mention their stock!--has been exemplary. I've been recommending them to all...
Read moreIf you are shipping to Canada, DO NOT ORDER! My order was for $142.55 USD. Shipping charges on that were $32.95. Then, lo and behold, when my package arrived I had to pay another $44.08 CDN in Duties ($23.26) handling fees ($9.95), and GST ($10.87). So much for "free trade", as you'll have to pay tariffs on these goods. After already converting my USD purchase, and shipping costs, into CDN from USD, the various hidden fees amount to an extra 18% (!!!!!) on the cost of your order, and that is NOT counting PST if you have to pay PST or HST in your province. I have no idea why these costs were so high, and I note that different codes were given despite all my products being textiles made of cotton, but there you have it. Better to order direct from China rather than from Guatemala via the United States of America. All in all, my cost on an ostensible order of $142 USD was actually $281.00 CDN. As for the products, I have not tried the removable shirt collars yet, but the pants I ordered do not seem to match the colour on the website - they look far more brown than the photo, which made them...
