Really pleasant, partially shaded place to walk, with a paved, flat, wheelchair-accessible pathway around a large pond, with benches facing the water all along the way. One circuit around the pond is 0.7 miles. There's a little fenced playground for young children, grills, picnic tables, a drinking fountain that includes a fountain for dogs, and a small restroom. On Thursday and Sunday mornings there's a great farmer's market in the northwest parking lot. Plenty of parking on both ends of the pond and on the street (except during the annual county fair around July 4th). It's common to see wildlife, especially birds; there are always ducks and geese, and often you'll see Great Blue Herons, small turtles, small fish, migratory birds, and once I saw a Green Heron. At dusk/night there may be a coyote or two. Watch out for duck/goose poop, and be aware that people and dogs are not allowed in the water. Lagoon Park is part of a kind of community complex that includes an auditoruium and exhibit hall that host events, a veterans' memorial, other areas to walk, a petanque court, a fenced dog park ("Field of Dogs"), and the county...
Read moreLovely place to stroll, tons of parking, park to play with little littles side and big littles side, benches to rest at while walking around the pond and table benches to eat at. Majority of walking and grass area is in the sun park and table benches have partial shade which is great on a hot day. Double dog parks ajacent to the kids play area. The grass area with hill and look out ontop (where the rides are located during the Marin county fair) is infested with gophers making it extremely unsafe to walk on without watching every step. Even watching where you step, the tunnels are in such close proximity making the ground upstable and puts you at risk of loosing your footing on a collapsing tunnel. I find the gophers to be adorable. My dog along with plenty of others enjoy the thrill of little critters popping up randomly while they dig, dig, dig, trying to find them. Canine friendly peek a boo. My son loves to see the ducks, geese, tadpols, other peoples dogs and especially the turtles when they are sunning themselves on a log. I remember when the fountains were active and would love to know what...
Read moreCome here with my fur babies when my grandmother's apartment is due for cleaning, such a great place to just sit with some nature. In the summer I love seeing the little turtles pop their heads up in the water. Plenty of trail for walking around the lagoon, or plenty of seating to observe nature or enjoy a bahn mi (bahn mi and coffee is my go-to!).
Only gripe is I wish people would educate themselves on NOT feeding BREAD to ducks! DO feed them cracked corn, oats, rice, birdseed, frozen peas, chopped lettuce, or sliced grapes. The more...
