For 'fast food' there's not much better in Marin unless you are loyal to In-N-Out and I'm not. I have to pass almost every fast food place in Southern Marin just to get to A&W but there's something about how they cook their burgers that makes it worth the drive. Their Cole slaw is very good too (tastes homemade). Of course, they have the best root beer & floats and that you certainly can't get anywhere else. Nostalgia plays a big part. It isn't exactly the same as 30 years ago but they've kept it as close as they could considering. The servers are lovely. They are polite and courteous. Still, they are really sitting somewhere between 3 & 4 fast food stars (I rounded up) because, if I'm not physically there to check the order, it's usually wrong. This goes for someone else ordering on-site or my calling in an order. I'm not saying this to be picky, I have food allergies so, when it's wrong it's usually inedible. Worth the stop/trip if you are looking for fast food where there are a lot of menu options (eg. legit fish & chips, veggie burgers, etc), a children's menu that doesn't involve toys, smaller options...It helps that, if you do have the burger, it tastes much more like it was cooked on a BBQ than other similar fare. They also have a 'deal' every day. The best discount seems to be the buy one / get one free Papa Burger Combo on Tuesdays. The fries can be upgraded for a small fee and so can the soda. They also place coupons in the weekly...
Read moreI stopped by here to find out if the Beyond Burger was available. Since Beyond Meat has begun offering their plant based burger to A&W's across Canada, I decided to check and see if our local A&W had it yet.
Drive up was not packed. Easy to drive up and ask questions. The guy who was taking order didn't know about the Beyond Burger. He also didn't have a manager available to assist me. They do have their own garden burger so that seemed cool enough, however, I wanted to talk with someone who understands the importance of selling the beyond burger as a very good selling point for many people today. I wanted them to get more business by using the best products around. And to feel good about themselves by supporting the best way to save our environment for future generations, offering BYND burgers and products which replace the animal in the production of meat.
The guy wasn't too keen about it but he was helpful and interested. I am going to give these guy another try and drive thru in the future to see if hey have implemented my request. Of course, many other people want this product in more places, as they make thousands of requests every day to BYND meat but often they are too busy to go and ask. I am glad I could do the work...
Read moreI never knew A&W offered real Wisconsin Cheese Curds until recently. So when I saw it on their menu( because my intentions was their fish& chips basket) I decided to try them. I skipped the rootbeer float too, and I'm so happy I did. Here's why, I wanted to just enjoy the original flavor of the rootbeer, and I'm so glad I did (yes, I ALWAYS get the float) to my very pleasant surprise, they serve their rootbeer without ice, so not to water down that real cane sugar in that incredible root beer soda. The cheese curds were a tasty great first experience for me. They were freshly cooked, crispy, melty and my favorite sauce with them is the Spicy Thousand Island sauce!!😋😋😋. Awesome!! This family owned & operated A&W location in San Rafael is worth driving to, their menu is eclectic from other places serving just burgers. They have several types of burgers, hot dogs, Fish baskets, loaded French Fries and such. They also offer the rootbeer by the gallon! How about that??? They even serve a Vegan/ Vegetarian burger🍔. So if it's just you or your family, friends, sweety, everyone will find something on their menu to satisfy their...
