Great family beach area in Sandpoint. Easy to access, close to town, lots of beach space and parking. There is a large swim area roped off with life guards on duty starting at 11am. You can't use kayaks in the swim area but all other flotation devices that are air pumped are acceptable. There is a small square floating dock to swim to and jump off of. No diving or running allowed on it. You can swim out to the logs and sit on them but again when life guards are on duty you can't stand on them. They will let you know all day what you can and can't do. There is a snack shack with great ice cream and other items and restrooms at the beach area. Great walking path with volleyball courts. Large grassy area for playing in and although the geese like to poop everywhere, it's still great to find some shade and benches to sit at around the lake. Just watch your step with the geese poop. There are seagulls everywhere so keep your food put away. If you bring an umbrella for shade at the beach you have to set yourself up either right by the life guard stand or down at the ends where they can see the whole beach area and not have any umbrella's in the way. They will let you know if it needs to be moved. Get there earlier in the day to get a good days worth of beach time if you plan to stay all day. It's beautiful and worth it. If you're lucky you will see the pirate ship come by with little trinkets for kids. Not only is there beach areas but also boat marina parking all around. You can kayak or paddle board around through the marina and up the...
Read moreThis was a visit to the Windbag Marina where I used to keep my sailboat. Stopped using it due to increased slip fees and less desire to go out on the lake. I was a resident here for over 5 years and the fees just kept increasing year by year. It is a prime place to keep your boat as it is close to town, but there are almost no services. There are only nasty portable toilets no swirling waters or sinks to wash your hands. No water service on the docks. Very little (but some) power service that will require long extension cords in most cases. In a lot of places they are old wood docks that will give those with bare feet splinters. No security for the boats, anyone can go out on the docks, and they do, often. The docks are only usable between mid May through September,as the water level in the lake fluctuates. Gasoline? Nope forget it, not available. Parking is atrocious, very few parking slots and are regularly used by any and everyone that have little to no business with the marina. Over all it is an expensive, terrible marina, but then again, location,...
Read moreWe had a nice stay! We were in the area for one of our granddaughter's wedding and this was the only RV parking available for our 34'. The parking area is kept clean and has full hookups but mostly gravel and very little grass. The biggest complaint for people are the trains going by within just a few yards every 20-30 minutes. At first it was bothersome but we shortly found ourselves seldom noticing it...even throughout the night. Looking out over the Lake with all the beautiful boats going by and those in the harbor made up for any train inconvenience for us. The community park is large and beautifully kept. There are three roped off beach and swimming areas for adults and kids. There are lifeguards on duty at posted times. Picnic tables and children's play equipment are available in several areas too. There is shopping and restaurants within walking distance for added convenience. All-in-all, if you don't mind trains going by, this RV/Camping area is a great place to stay for couples and families...
