This was my 1st visit ever, on Halloween night. We were pleasantly surprised it was open on a Sunday night when many places aren't. It did appear closed from the outside when we pulled up and we almost left but noted a few cars outside. The menu is pretty straight forward, nothing too fancy or odd. I forgot to snap a pic unfortunately. We spent about $32 for a large half combo and half pepperoni/pineapple along with a soda and a tap beer. When we go to other establishments, we end up with 3-4 pieces leftover. Here, we ended up with 6 pieces and was still pleasantly full. We're talking generous toppings here folks, especially the sausage! The toppings were of quality, I loved the slight taste of caraway seeds in the sausage. It could have used a tad more sauce, and the crust was a perfect balance between hand tossed and thin crust. Although, we did note on one side of the pizza the crust was a bit more darkened/crunchy and part of the middle was more doughy...so maybe a hot spot in the oven where a little more rotating is needed and perhaps would ensure evenness. Although with that being said, it still didn't take any enjoyment away. It seemed to have stayed fairly steady the whole time we were there, a handful of tables still needed to be bussed, and the plates and silverware could have been attended to a tad more, but nothing to be disgusted by. Overall it was a nice relaxing environment with a couple of different sectioned/levels of seating but plenty of space. The restrooms were fairly clean but busy and only a one stall situation. Since they were on the way past the open sided kitchen I was able to appreciate how surprisingly clean it was! All staff we interacted with were pleasant and prompt. We shall return!

Not sure where to start, the service.....I didn't see any employee smile or even appear to be at all happy, they brought the food, dropped it on the table and walked away. Not once were we asked if we needed anything or if we were enjoying the food. Maybe they were dealing with something that night. We were given a salad fifteen minutes after ordering, an hour later our 3 pizzas were brought out, 5 min later we got our garlic bread. In their defense in regards to the wait, they did have a sign saying "quality takes longer" but an hour and fifteen minutes when the restaurant was mostly empty seems extreme. The food, was okay. The ceaser salad had black olives in place of croutons but was dressed well with the classic taste. The pizza was average tasting but it did have an amazing amount of toppings. Two of the pizzas we ordered had vegetables, apparently the put raw vegetables on the pizza after it's cooked which tasted odd to me, I like my onions and mushrooms cooked but that's a personal preference. The garlic bread was a cheese pizza with no sauce but marinara on the side, it was okay. Overall I wasn't impressed.

If you know, you know—Second Avenue Pizza is the reason my husband and I will happily make the hour-long trek back to Sandpoint (yes, even when the long bridge is down to one lane with construction traffic). And let me tell you—it’s always worth it. I always order the You Name It Combo because why settle for one topping when you can basically get the whole garden (and then some) on a pizza? My husband, on the other hand, goes straight for the Juke Box—which is basically “meat with a crust” and honestly deserves its own theme song. Bonus points: they’ve got gluten-free crust and vegan cheese that still tastes genuinely good (a rare find in the pizza world). Second Avenue isn’t just pizza—it’s a Sandpoint classic. It’s comfort, it’s nostalgia, it’s ooey-gooey-cheesy happiness that makes the drive (and the bridge delays) completely worth it. Five stars, two happy bellies, and a promise that we’ll keep making the trip for as long as they keep baking pies. 🍕✨

We went there because there are new owners. We went with some trepidation and were not disappointed. The lady that took our order was very personable and helpful when we had questions. We've been at restaurants where they can be condescending or indifferent. Not true here.

When the salads came they were quite impressive. The presentation of the salads was almost flawless. Very beautifully crafted with fresh everything; and for the price a lot of food. The wife was especially elated when they had diet Dr pepper which we don't see very often. Bonus points for that.

I ordered a Hawaiian calzone. I have been spoiled by the legendary Pete's Pizza in Spokane. So I was I was a bit apprehensive about what I would get here. To my surprise, the presentation was wonderful. A different look and a wonderful taste. The crust was harder than a Pete's Pizza calzone, with pastry holes cut into the top which which made my mouth start watering. A small bowl of spaghetti sauce with meat in it was included. What a nice touch. Inside the calzone pure fresh goodness. Fresh mushrooms not canned which was a nice touch. The wife ordered the garden salad which was fresh as fresh can be and also included fresh mushrooms and plenty of additional vegetables. She ordered some kind of pizza with a lot more vegetables and was very happy with the blend of tastes and the dough. Crunchier outer dough with a softer fresh inside. Additionally we both have our lunches for tomorrow. What's not to love about that?

If you're in Sandpoint make sure and stop by and give it a try. When we were there around 5:30 on Sunday there was only three or four people but around 6:30 the place was packing in. So it looks like a lot of other people know about one of the best kept secrets in Sandpoint. Don't be put off by the location or the building. Just come on...

So I'm not really one to complain online about petty things. I know second Avenue gets pretty busy on the weekends so I put in my order at 1:45 pm to be picked up at 5pm. I believe that is a reasonable notice, don't you? I arrived 10 minutes early and was told by the cashier my order would be ready in about 10 minutes. I waited and waited. Watched about 30 other customers come and go. By that time my 4 year old daughter and I are starting to get impatient after now 45min. I went up to the counter and was ignored for about 5 minutes more by the lady I had previously talked too. Finally someone else came to the counter and asked if I had an order to go. I said yes the order is for Ryan. She went in the back and brought me out 2 cold pizzas one of which was made wrong. I wasn't pleased. The lady I first talked to watched us sit there, we made eye contact several times while waiting. She was who I dealt with in the beginning, she knew we were waiting and what we were waiting for. She chose to let our pizzas get cold and not do her job. In a small town setting in the middle of a pandemic one would think that restaurants would be grateful to be open and have customers willing to support them. There lack of customer service made my mind up for me. I will not...
