Overview: As a vegan, this place has my favorite pizza option. Service is very friendly, but its popular and busy which may make service slow. They are up front when wait times are very long.
Toppings and price: Unfortunately I have to take one of their specialty pizzas and make some modifications to get what I want because getting a pizza and adding toppings cost more than modifying a specialty pizza.
Portion Size: You have to ask for vegan cheese. They put in a hearty amount so be prepared to feel sick if you eat too much. That's sick in the sense, I over ate because it tasted so good. Most large vegan pizzas feed 1 person, this large easily feeds 3 without sides or 4-5 with sides.
Cut: I like square cut because I like the center pieces and my wife likes the crust corners and they'll do that if you ask. They cut 2x one direction and 3x the other direction which leaves offer sized pieces in the center and smaller on 2 sides. They need to do a 3x3 cut instead for even slices.
Atmosphere: It's casual. Nice. Okay. Nothing fancy. Has outdoor seating but only a view of the road. They offer the game of corn hole which is great if the wait is long.
Beer: Last but not least, they alternate beers every couple weeks which is great for people like me who prefer novelty over favorites.
I've been here 3x now and took my sister who isn't vegan and loves pizza and she said the non vegan pizza was...
Read moreThis is seriously the best pizza dinner I have had in 30 years. If there is a better pizza I haven't had it. I liked it better than any pizza I have EVER had in Seattle, in Leavenworth WA, or any place in between (and I have been to a LOT of pizza places) - and it wasn't even my preferred toppings! I would say there weren't as many toppings as some places (I like hamburger and jalapeño, neither of which they had), but the crust was so good (crisp, not burnt and obviously home-made bread), obviously the sauce (didn't taste canned) and cheese were good. I had pepperoni and bacon (? odd. what can I say? The pizza was great. My husband had Hawaiian) I prefer the 'sampler' with all the meats and veges, but the available toppings were more limited. The dinner salad was SO crisp and fresh, large, with lots of good toppings - a fantastic salad and reasonably priced. It's been a long time since I have enjoyed a meal so much. The music was terrible and too loud. I hate whiny, loud music by "singers" who can't hit the notes (flat or sharp). I prefer singers who sing in tune and aren't carrying on "woe is me" (unless it's the Blues). I wish restaurants would play music which appeals to a broader range of guests - to annoy the least number of customers. Even with all the elements that weren't to my taste I would almost move to Sandpoint just so I could eat here. This...
Read moreWe've been big fans of Powder Hound for years now. We've been coming since before the old location burned. Our big draw was the best gluten free crust and the spicy Thai pizza. My wife ordered a small spicy Thai a couple of weeks ago and told me she thought the quality had diminished somewhat. I Picked up 2 pizzas last night to take and watch college football at McDuffs pub, and I thought the same thing. Not one peanut on my spicy Thai pizza last night. I thought maybe it was a menu change, but the ingredients still list peanuts on the pizza. Just checked. And our Thor's Hammer was it's own dining experience with each piece being slight different. Some pieces had ample cheese, others cheese deficient. Some pieces had lots of sausage, others not much at all. I think it was simply working quickly and not disbursing the ingredients evenly. I have to say after years of coming here, I think we are going to table it for a while. I'm so disappointed to do so, as we used to consider it...
