Only one tree for shade. There are metal playground structures and swings for kids, but who would want to bring their kid out here without any trees for shade, or some of those triangular man-made canopies. This is the south. The south gets hot! Plenty of concrete, plenty of metal benches, and metal playground structures to retain the suns' heat. The only time one can see families enjoying this park is when the weather is perfect (as in sunny but quite cool outside). Whoever designed this park wanted to do so for show/curb appeal, with its concrete walking trail, and couple of artsy structures, not for actual use as a park. Go to the Morgan Falls Park or Dunwoody Park instead where there is plenty shade, plenty of seating, plenty of playground (swings, merry-go-round, slides, etc.,) for kids, at Dunwoody Park there is an area to hang up your hammock, and...
Read moreGreat park for walking, playing, swinging, dog watching or walking. Intriguing interactive art playscapes for children to explore. No standard playground equipment here except some wonderfully tall swings. There are some fun secret paths in the landscaping along the back for kids to discover.
Hasn't been crowded during Covid, so been able to take turns without violating 6 feet. Good paths for kids little ride on scooters or trikes and such, just have to be mindful about pedestrians. Sandy Springs spent a small fortune on this park and the new sister strip of park across Abernathy. That area is gravel paths and ideal for dog walkers and others who don't want to be crowded by families.
The outdoor sitting area under the structure is still usable and fully ventilated, but the bathrooms and water fountain are rightly closed...

I can see how this park would be totally lovely in the evening or in the early morning, before it gets hot. There was just 1 bench with shade. The play structures and swings were almost all too hot for the littles to touch or slide down. Given the right kind of weather or time of day, it's a fun park. But our experience this morning was kind of a killjoy. We got there at 10 AM and it was awful.
Edit: I've been back in the spring and fall when it wasn't so hot. There weren't many things my toddler enjoyed. Now that kids are bigger (ages 8, 5, and 3), the older kids have way more to do and the little one just kind of runs around while they climb on the bigger structures. We come here a couple times each...
