I heard about this place over a year ago and I have been craving ribs since July 4th so I finally made my way. I ordered my food online (great feature) which was very easy BUT somehow the ribs in the pick two plate changed to turkey. I was sooooo disappointed when I got home and realized there were no ribs. It wasn't their fault - I reviewed my order online and the ribs weren't listed. No idea how I made that mistake, sad sad day for me. Fortunately the food I did get was REALLY good. The turkey was juicy, not dry at all - the pulled chicken was seasoned exceptionally well and also juicy - also tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich which was tasty and not too too hot which was perfect for me. When it comes to BBQ the sides are as important as the meats and this place did not disappoint! If the baked beans and mac & cheese are not top notch then the restaurant can easily loose 1-2 stars... fortunately no worries in that department. The mac & cheese was some of the best I've had. Highly recommend! Also ordered collard greens and again, definitely recommend. Tried the banana pudding and honestly, it wasn't my favorite. It has caramel of which i am not a fan. I wouldn't order it again. Happy with the ability for online/contactless ordering. I place the order online and let them know I was otw - it took me about 20 mins to get there and I still had to wait about 10 mins for them to bring out the food. A bit of a wait but fortunately I did not have anywhere to rush off to. Now I just have to go back for ribs but I guess thats not a bad thing! *Have pics, will update

I've been coming to this city bbq for years. I placed an online order today and I'm not satisfied whatsoever. My order was ready when I arrived and the manager that was walking the floor got my bag for me. I went to check the bag in my car and realized I was missing 1 of the Texas toasts I ordered and the brisket was not moist at all, it was extremely dry and seemed like it was from the day before. Same with the mac and cheese. So I went back in and let the young lady know who was at the register. She told the African American man that was cutting meat in the front and packaging it. He literally started to argue with her about it and raised his voice. He asked "what's the name on the order?" She told him and he said "she didn't ask for moist and I put all of the bread in there man!" I then told her I can show him the receipt and what I received if needed. She declined but he was very upset and boisterous about it. It made me feel really uncomfortable especially considering the manager was right there and didn't correct his behavior. Another customer looked at him and said wow. I did receive another order of just the brisket, but he was so angry I don't trust it. He might have dropped it or something. Between the old food and his attitude I will not be returning. Attached is a screenshot of my order (specifically asking for moist and the additional pieces of bread), the dry brisket I received.

Great BBQ with generous portions and fast service. We decided to give another BBQ place a try tonight since we were in the area. We were not disappointed. You can tell their normal workflow has been disrupted by the covid19 protocols but we will definitely try again when restrictions are lifted. I’m from Georgia so I always start with the pulled pork because that’s what BBQ is to me. It was moist, nice smoke ring and very flavorful. They also let me sample the turkey and brisket. The turkey was excellent, probably the best smoked turkey I have ever had mainly because it wasn’t dried out. Out of respect for my Texas connections I’ve grown to appreciate brisket - especially from Texas. Those hole-in-the wall places that pull the entire brisket out to slice and weigh are the absolute best. City’s brisket was dry but had good flavor and I’m not sure I’d recommend ordering it so ask for a sample before you commit. The sides were delicious. The slaw wasn’t too sweet and reminds me of what my Mom makes. The cornbread had some sweet (not like the normal iron skillet type) but really tasted like corn - different but excellent. I liked the Mac and cheese as well - very decent. Last but not least - the sweet tea was perfect!

Here’s your real BBQ Review. If you can, read before you go here.

First things first, when you order BBQ, you pay for the time it takes. A low and slow process takes awhile and you pay for that. That being said, their prices are very very fair.

But what do you get for these prices? You get some BBQ with a lot of potential, but that’s about it.

I ordered the sampler I believe. It comes with smoked Turkey, pork shoulder, and brisket. I also ordered Mac and cheese and baked beans as my side for this particular order.

Let’s talk about the Turkey. Good flavor, but was relatively dry compared to other BBQ I’ve had. Flavor was nice, but make sure you have a cup of water nearby to quench the dryness of the meat.

Pork shoulder was, well, pork shoulder. If you can’t cook a good pork shoulder you shouldn’t have a BBQ joint. This pork shoulder was mediocre. I’ve had better at family functions. Taste was good, meat was dry as a bone.

Lastly, the brisket. Man…. I had high hopes with this but was incredibly disappointed. Flavor was spot on. But there seems to be a reoccurring theme here…. DRY! My god this brisket was so dry. I mean, it was so dark and lacked all moisture. Seemed like it was under a heat lamp for a good 12 hours. Very very very disappointing.

Mac and cheese. Hot diggity dog. That’s some slappin’ mac and cheese. But if you’re from the south you ought to know how to do make it.

Baked beans…. More like vinegar bean soup. I took two bites and couldn’t stomach the rest. The beans just tasted like straight vinegar. Incredibly disappointing.

Texas toast was served (or so I believe). It was good! Big fat slices of bread too. I assume it was dipped in butter about 12 times. Paula Deen would be in heaven. I liked it a lot.

The BBQ sauce was pretty spot on too. I got the original and Spicy. These sauces made the dry meats edible.

Long story short: meat was dry as cardboard and seemed like it was under a heat lamp for hours and hours. Dry as a bone but the flavor was there. Mac and cheese was “busssin on god”. Baked beans had so much vinegar and acidic taste I couldn’t differentiate my own throw up from the baked beans. Prices are average. But if you’re craving smoked meats, buy yourself a smoker. Even your first attempt will likely deliver meat that’s more moist than what I was served here. Overall, 4/10.

UPDATE: the owners were incredible and offered me a gift card to give them a try again.

This time, I played it safe and just ordered 2 pounds of pork shoulder.

At the same time, I had just finished smoking low and slow a 5lb pork shoulder at 215 degrees for 12 hours.

Their pork shoulder: dry. Flavorless. No smoke ring. Not very good.

My pork shoulder: juicy, melt in your mouth, nice deep smoke ring and every bite had flavor.

Moral of the story: stay away from here. It’s truly not good. Buy your own pellet grill and smoke your own meats. It’s cheaper in the long run, tastes better, and is more rewarding.

Oh, and…. This was my first time smoking ever and it was leagues better...

I have been a customer to City BBQ since this location opened about 5 years ago and I am absolutely disgusted with how other customers and I were treated at this establishment this evening. When I arrived the restaurant was completely empty apart from the 15+ customers waiting for online/ to go orders. The restaurant had absolutely nothing together and was completely unprofessional with how they handled things and it was absurd how poorly they treated the customers that were waiting. I waited an HOUR for my to go order due to how unorganized the staff and managers were handling things! An entire hour after it said it was ready to be picked up! A majority of the other to go orders had been waiting close to 40 minutes to pick up their food as well. Due to the amount of time everybody was waiting I witnessed multiple customers be insulted by the manager and I witnessed multiple people calling from doordash asking about their order and why their dasher had been waiting to pick up their food for 40 minutes. Staffing is terrible and one specific young girl with long dark black hair was rude to customers on multiple occasions, rolled her eyes at customers multiple times, and when asked for the manager refused to go and get him. The SECOND time I asked for a manager he finally came around the corner huffing and puffing audibly at the fact somebody wanted to speak to him. Before I could even get one single word out he cut me off and started screaming in my face about how busy he was, how he didn’t have time to deal with this, how he wasn’t going to help me, how he does not need my money, how he did not care if I had been waiting, among other insults which is absolutely ridiculous behavior. I was not the only person who asked for a manager and was spoken to this way. Several other customers just trying to pick up or ask questions were harshly and rudely spoken to. I also work at a restaurant so I understand being overwhelmed with orders but to act as immaturely as the manager did is extremely bad for business. Due to him, an entire scene was made in front of all the customers that were waiting and multiple people including me finally had enough and walked out. What happened today is horrible for business and I will not be coming back. This place could be amazing but it definitely needs new management and more training for staff to avoid...

Zero STARS!!!Everything was nasty!!! Award winning where? I need to know who judged this food? We had 4 containers of beans and threw the beans away after 1 bite. The beans were disgusting!! Not sweet it almost tasted like liquor. They all went straight to the trash. We got 2 brisket sandwiches The brisket was dry, a weird color, and it had ZEROOOO seasoning. Do not order it. Don’t order anything from here. They draw you in by saying it’s award winning but it’s horrible. I honestly think they are lying about an award. Because I tasted the brisket. 🤮🤢🤢🤢🤢 Okra had good seasoning but somehow it was soggy and undercooked. Mac n cheese was edible. Chick fil a Mac n cheese tastes better!!! I love baked Mac n cheese. I only ate the Mac n cheese because I’m pregnant and I was starving. The pasta was wayyy over cooked and broken up. I literally forced myself to eat it. My husband said the banana pudding was weird tasting. It only had 2 vanilla wafers sitting on top. He barely touched it. Banana pudding is his fav. I’ve seen this man eat a whole pan of it. So you know it was nasty. Everything was nasty.!!!!! Do not order!!! Do not eat here!!! I’m sooo confused. Are they paying for reviews?? These can’t be honest reviews. This food was barely edible. Idk WHO COOKED THIS FOOD? BUT THEY CAN’T COOK! I feel like I went to someone’s house for a bbq and they can’t cook. SMH please please don’t let them trick you it’s nasty. Worse food I’ve ordered in a long time. To be pregnant and wait on food and it’s so nasty you or your husband don’t even eat it. I didn’t even want my money back. My husband to me don’t even leave a review but I feel line it’s my duty to let people know to his food is trash. It might as well just go in the trash. I was soooo...
