I'd been a patient here for 15+yrs and had been seen by different providers and never had an issue until I got a micro needling procedure done by Raquel that ruined my face dramatically. I called the esthetician, Raquel and asked her beforehand did she have to use topical lidocaine on my face before the procedure because if she did, I was definitely not going to get the procedure because of my severe allergic reaction to that med. She stated they never use topical lidocaine for that particular procedure because it's painless. I was glad to hear that so I went in for the procedure. As I'm lying there, she slathered a cream on my face and neck. About 10-12 min later my face and lips go numb. I asked her what did she put on me, she stated lidocaine. I was absolutely horrified that despite what I told her, and what she confirmed would not happen , she went ahead and put that med on my face anyway! Although 1.) I told her prior to the procedure I was allergic to it 2.) she stated she doesn't even use it 3.) Its even in my med recs that I'm allergic to that med. Feeling completely overwhelmed and disregarded, I reminded her of my allergy to it, and of her comment that she stated she didn't use that med. All she did was apologize for her mistake and said I might not get a reaction. I left the office absolutely mortified about what had happened because I knew it would ruin my face/neck. Hours later after I got home, sure enough my face and neck swelled like a blowfish and I had a horrible rash. I texted her to tell and show her the horrific nature of what was happening. I was up all night long in agony and pain because of her carelessness. I had to cancel a very important business Zoom meeting I was hosting due to this horrible occurrence that unnecessary happened to my face/neck. The next morning a dr. called me from the office. Though he tried to minimize my issues, he knew it was bad so he prescribed me a dose pack of prednisone that I had to take for several days to get the swelling under control. This drug undoubtedly affects the much needed healing process for micro needling. Needless to say the procedure was a complete disaster, a waste of money & time, but more importantly I had the most horrible scarring like discoloration on my face/neck that resulted from the rash. I called the office manager Candice to explain what happened and ask for a refund. She was slow to return my call, and when she finally responded, she was rude, apathetic, and cold about the situation. She actually seemed to be offended that I asked for a refund for their provider's carelessness. Her bad attitude about it was unbelievable. I have had to spend thousands of dollars, a lot of time, energy and effort to get my face back to some semblance of normalcy which took many months all because the provider neglected to do something as simple as to pay attention, care and concern to what the patient had informed her about their allergies. All she had to do was not put something on my face that I told her I was allergic to and she claimed she didn't even use for that procedure. I had been seeing another esthetician in this practice that I never had issues with and unfortunately, she didn't do micro needling or else I would have gone to her because I seriously doubt she would have disrespected my face in that way. I tried to schedule an appointment to see her for something totally different. I was told that because of what their other provider (the careless one) did to cause issues with my face (she did this to me now, not the other way around), I can't be seen there anymore. Luckily there are innumerable providers in Atlanta to go to, but I am compelled to share my story so others can decide to go here at their own risk. I understand mistakes happen but when a practice essentially wants to blame a patient for what their provider did (and admit to) to them, be indignant to the patient, that is a bit much to not share with others. Since Dr. Griffin (the owner) retired, this is now the unprofessional and bad treatment they now provide to...
Read moreWARNING: I wanted to let you know the outcome of my first visit with Dermatology Associates of Atlanta. My appointment was today and was my last one as well. I unfortunately would not recommend this group for any of your patients. I was seen by Danna Dennis Calder M.M. Sc, PA-C and I can confidently say I have never ever walked out of an appointment until now. Today was an exception, the assistant taking my PMHx did not listen and was impolite and the same is said for PA-C. I have been an RN for over 15 years and have never been treated like this. First, prior to my appointment I took initiative and uploaded all my dermatologist records including my current medical problem list, and current medication administration records all of this within an appropriate time frame so they could be reviewed prior to my appointment as my PMHx is extensive. However, they failed to review any of the above records. Second, I answer all the questioned asked and I was treated as a) I did not know what I was speaking in off, b) I did not have the diagnosis given to me by license physicians both in LA and Tampa. I must say her body language was of an aggressive, agitated individual, during my brief visit she continue to speak with me in an irritated manner. Should have known from the beginning that this was not going to be a good appointment as all the signs where there. The assistant and or nurse or whoever she was impolite, dismissive, and just plainly rude. She stated that my problem and medications given did not make sense and insinuated that I did not know what I was speaking off. In numerus occasions through our meeting I kept referring her to the a) uploaded records and b) even the printed records I brought with me, either way did not matter to her or the PA-C. Regardless, a patient should never be treated like this so I personally and kindly excused myself and asked to leave my appointment. I was asked why and informed then I personally do not want to be treated by anyone who treats their patient in an unprofessional manner and her lack of professionalism and empathy is not tolerable for me at this time. Obviously, she took offense to this and began to say,â hold on, wait a minute, what did I do? I did not do or saying anything and asked her MA the same questionâ once more I kindly excused myself and left to be checked out. I personally came into the visit to be treated like a human and not an animal. I would recommend for anyone to seek their dermatological needs elsewhere! The only plus was the front desk staff who checked me in, they were amazing and professional but remember they are not treating you đ·! Stay away from the clinician below if you want to be a listened to as a patient and want to be treat with compassion and respect.

Read moreTerrible experience yesterday with this practice. My daughter and myself are both patients here. My daughter has been seeing Del, the PA for just over a year. When I found out in late January that her medication is no longer covered under my insurance, I called his nurse to see what the options were. After a couple of days, got a callback and they tried unsuccessfully to get it authorized. His MA then called in another medication, which costs over $600. I did not fill it and called, spoke with the MA who said to try something over the counter which we did. My daughter is also on an oral antibiotic that Del prescribes for her acne. I found out yesterday that Del refused a refill that I had requested from my pharmacy on the antibiotic. I called and left message with no callback. After I spoke to the practice manager, I got a callback from the MA who told me that he will not call it in because we are overdue for my daughter's annual exam. I did not realize this-I have 3 kids with busy schedules and did not realize it was overdue. Why didn't someone mention this 3 weeks ago when they were willing to call in a completely new medication?? The MA was rude and then Del came on the line, told me that I was taking up his time that he could be spending with his patients. I told him I was happy to make an appointment and get her in within a week and could he call her in enough medication to get her to the visit. He said no. I asked if it was better for her to go without medication and her acne to glare up before her appointment and he hung up on me. Poor service, total lack of concern for his patient, and terribly rude. I am a provider and would NEVER speak to someone like he spoke to me or hang up on a patient. I made an appointment with another provider there, but after thinking about it all night, can't in good faith give them any business. My child's healthcare is worth more than that. Got her in with another practice today--SO happy, much easier experience and knowledgeable provider. Will be reporting...
