Good but under-staffed arcade with some non-functional machines. Skip the overly complex mini-golf and bring earplugs if you're going near the go-karts.
Arcade: 3 stars Ropes course: 3 stars Laser tag: 5 stars Mini golf: 2 stars
This is a great concept for an amusement center that doesn't quite work due to essential parts of the system breaking.
Reception: The card machines are straightforward but several have visual glitches where you can't see the whole screen. The reception staff were very efficient. EDIT: forgot to add that you need to register to get cards to do anything, which takes about 3 mins/person. I get the rationale, but it's hard to do that with small kids who want to rush in and play.
Arcade: The arcade is pretty classy. Good layout, good variety of games. But when I got there at opening, there were several that were clearly non-functional but not labeled as such (see pictures).
Mini golf: You can't see the mini-golf when you walk in, and I would have skipped it if I'd understood how it works. You register each member of your party at a kiosk and get a chipped putter. The process takes about 1 minute per person. Then at each hole, you register your putter by holding it up to a sensor. Your score gets automatically tracked, and you get extra points for trick shots.
That's great in theory.
In reality, no one's putter was recognized by the machines in my party of seven, so we all had to re-register. Then at random one of them stopped working on hole 4. They can't fix it individually - they would have to reset the entire group. We didn't have time for that, so we opted to just have one person sit out the round.
They ran out of golf balls while we were there, and other groups also had issues with the putters. The poor staff had no idea how to fix anything and had to find a supervisor to retreive balls from one of the holes.
In addition, the mini golf is right next to the SCREECHING go-kart track. It's seriously amazing how loud it is. Bring ear plugs.
Laser tag: I played a round of laser tag with my two kids in a battle royale. It's a big enough space to be interesting, the music is good, and all of the equipment functioned. That's all I ask for when it comes to laser tag!
Ropes course: They've figured out a way to make this almost entirely unsupervised. An attendant hooks the kid up with a harness, and there's a system of slotted tracks to let them go through various obstacles while being able to walk past each other. Seemed fine, but it's kind of small. The kids enjoyed it for...
Read moreMy experience at Elev8 in Sanford was overall quite enjoyable, earning it a solid four stars in my book. The moment I stepped into the facility, I was captivated by the modern and sleek design, creating a thrilling atmosphere even before the activities began.
The staff at Elev8 were welcoming and accommodating, making us feel valued as customers. They took the time to explain the different attractions and helped us choose the best options to suit our interests. I appreciated their enthusiasm, which added to the excitement of the day.
Speaking of attractions, there was an impressive array of activities to choose from, catering to various age groups and preferences. From the adrenaline-pumping go-karts to the challenging obstacle courses, Elev8 had it all. My friends and I were particularly excited about trying out the go-karts, as we were looking forward to some friendly competition and high-speed racing.
However, it was a bit disheartening to find out that the go-karts weren't operational when we arrived. It seemed like there was some technical issue that prevented them from running. Although the staff apologized for the inconvenience and assured us they were working on fixing the problem, it did put a slight damper on our initial excitement.
Nonetheless, we didn't let this setback ruin our day. We explored other activities available, such as the VR gaming zone, mini-golf, and the exhilarating ropes course. Each of these experiences brought its own unique thrill, and we found ourselves immersed in laughter and bonding throughout the day.
Despite the go-kart disappointment, I must commend Elev8 for their well-maintained facilities and dedication to safety measures. The equipment and installations were in excellent condition, and safety protocols were diligently followed, allowing us to enjoy the activities with peace of mind.
To sum it up, Elev8 is an excellent entertainment venue with a lot to offer. With their friendly staff, wide range of attractions, and commitment to safety, it's a great place to spend quality time with friends and family. I can only hope that the next time I visit, the go-karts will be running smoothly, providing that extra dose of exhilaration that was missing on this particular visit. I look forward to returning soon to create more cherished memories at...
Read moreI visited Elev8 with my family as my wife and I were in town before making a big move to California. We primary went to bowl and eat, but ended up walking around and enjoying the facility. Upon arrival the building was adequately temperatured and there was tons to do. We first decided to get food at the restaurant located inside. The service was good but the food could have been better. My party enjoyed what they ordered, but some items did come out incorrectly. Nevertheless, we continued on and took what was given. I advise asking before getting your hopes up for a particular item as there's a chance they may not have it. Most notably the wings. After dinner we went to bowl. $40 for an hour for up to 6 people seemed like a pretty good deal, especially since we paid $76 for the same deal at a different location. The lanes seemed standard, multiple sizes for house bowling balls, and he rental sues were good. Be careful as one my family members had to change out their shoes because there was little grip on them. During bowling there was an announcement where there was a free axe throwing for everyone wearing closed toes shoes. So that was our next stop. We arrived and was provided house rules by Kalista. She went over everything and was super excited for us. I had been axe throwing before but some others had not. She and Blake were great teachers for them and great company as well. The axe throwing was much different than what I was accustomed to. Normally it's just a bullseye and you throw the axe, this was not the case. There were multiple different games that could be played through a projector against the wood. We played a standard game of first to 300 points, tic tac toe, and a fund variant of H-O-R-S-E (but spelled A-X-E or another option was V-I-K-I-N-G) All in all, we had a splendid time at Elev8 and will be returning once we go back to visit again. Note- there were two vending machines for mini...
