Ordered the October Assortment and the Miyazakigyu Filet 2Oz. Placed order on Tuesday and received order by Thursday evening through expedited shipping($15 extra). Standard shipping would have taken 1 more day and been free, but I had constraints and wanted to err on the side of caution. They called shortly after the order was placed, to verify my phone number and order. The order came in a box well packed with dry ice and water soluble packing foam housed inside plastic bags. Thoroughly impressed with the foam, very easy to dispose of. Unpacking and disposing of the foam and dry ice was definitely part of the fun. Meats arrived frozen, despite the travel time, without any signs of thawing. My guess would be that, with the amount of dry ice in the packaging, it would have remained frozen till next day (standard shipping). We let the meat thaw in the fridge for a day before using it for dinner on Friday. The October assortment came with Miyazakigyu, Olive Wagyu and Hokkaido Wagyu Cubes. We experimented on the small cubes first before moving on to the bigger pieces. Ended up searing the meats with a bit of salt before wolfing it down. Needless to say the meats were incredible. Due to the high fat content 1) all the pieces were melt-in-your mouth true to their reputation, 2) rich enough that we could only have half the meats in one go and saved the rest for future consumption. The experience was stellar and I would order from here again. My only criticism would be with the labels on the individual meat packages themselves, which seemed a bit generic since the grade (A5) is not mentioned for any of the meats except the Olive Wagyu. For example the Miyazakigyu Filet was labeled 'Japanese Wagyu Beef Miyazakigyu Tenderloin'. However the certificates that they provide seems to mention everything in detail and they provided certificates for each type of meat. I don't know about you but those certificates are going to end up as a family heirloom.

This is my first experience with Kurobuta pork and its a winner. The shopping experience was excellent and when I had a question about delivery it was answered by an actual human on the second ring. Yes, I was surprised. Product was shipped and delivered correctly, packed very well, and I prepared one of the porterhouse pork chops today. I’m 82 and just wanted to taste the actual pork so I heated a cast iron pan, used just Kosher salt and ground pepper on chop, and let it sit out for 30 minutes after having defrosted it overnight. I rubbed it lightly with avocado oil (higher burn factor than olive) and placed it in the hot pan for 5 minutes on each side (reducing temp to medium), plus two minute to cook fat edges. Sorry I didn’t do a great job searing it evenly). Temp was 145, except on what I call the tiny tail section. Even with the 170 temp of the tail, it was very tender and flavorful. Of course the rest of the chop was stellar, so incredibly tender, juicy, and down right Texas awesome! And the fat, well I had to cut off small bits of the outer fat to eat with the interior pieces. I’m very pleased with this purchase and though I’m not a rich old woman, I’m going to find a way to work this pork into my budget. Exception experience with The Wagyu Shop.

I ordered "Hokkaido Wagyu | A5 Wagyu Beef Ribeye Steak" expecting there to be two steaks per order because that's what is shown in the picture. Instead after receiving only one per order, I was told by their customer service that the price is for only one such steak, Although the picture shows two steaks with the price right next to them. I was then told if you read further down the page, it says it is for only one steak. I believe this to be deceptive advertising, after which I now question if I truly received "Hokkaido Wagyu | A5 Wagyu Beef Ribeye Steak" or a cheap imitation. I will be filing a complaint with the "California State Attorney General's" office in regard to this website being deceptive.

Edit -This is an update from my previous review, which can be found below. The owners of the Wagyu Shop contacted me after seeing my review. I explained the texture issue to him and he investigated whether this is an issue with production. After confirming and making the necessary changes to production, he offered me a refund or a product replacement. I chose to replace only one of the two orders of beef cubes, but he threw in an order of a new product as well. I am glad to report the quality this time is what I expected from meat graded as A5. The meat is tender and juicy and full of flavor. I must also point out that the customer service and the attention the owner has paid to this issue is above and beyond my expectations. I completely recommend getting your A5 fix at the Wagyu Shop!!!

Previous Review - While the shopping experience and customer service was great, the quality of the beef was disappointing. I bought two orders of the Japanese Beef Steak Cubes. About a third of the cubes contained tough and chewy tendons. While I understand that the cubes may be the odds and ends of the actual steaks, I still paid a high price for it. I have had A5 Japanese steak before and it has never been this chewy. This ruined the experience for us and I doubt I would buy from The...
