My family and I recently had the pleasure of embarking on an e-bike tour with Cal Coast Adventures in Santa Barbara at the beginning of January 2024. From start to finish, our experience with this company was absolutely incredible, and I wanted to take a moment to share our gratitude, particularly for our guide, Dale.

Our journey with Cal Coast Adventures began with a reservation made over the phone with Connor, who was not only friendly but also extremely helpful in setting us up for the e-bike tour. He ensured that everything was in order and that we were well-prepared for the adventure ahead.

On the day of the tour, as we arrived at the shop, we were warmly greeted by Dale, our tour guide for the day. From the get-go, Dale's enthusiasm and professionalism were evident. He went above and beyond to make sure that each member of our family felt comfortable and confident with the e-bikes, especially since none of us had ridden one before.

During the tour itself, we encountered a minor hiccup when my son's bike wasn't working correctly. Without hesitation, Dale swiftly addressed the issue, providing him with a new bike, ensuring that we didn't miss a beat. This level of customer care was truly remarkable and greatly appreciated.

What truly sets Dale apart is his extensive knowledge of Santa Barbara and its hidden gems. He guided us to various exciting and beautiful spots that we would have never discovered on our own. We did an hourly rental a few years ago and had a great experience, with various bikes to choose from. The second time we booked bikes in advance for a 3 day rental. When we arrived we were told these are your bikes, and they've been tested and are ready to go. The bikes we got were well used, which would have be fine, except the chain fell off twice even after we change riders on the same bike. Not easy getting the chain back on given the chain guard, and not fun having greasy hands on the rest of the ride. We let the staff member know of the issue we had with the bike during the return, and they seemed fairly dismissive and assumed it was rider error. Seems, like they should have said, "I'll let our mechanic know". So I gave them a 3 star review. We ended up doing a third rental a couple months later. Initially, we were given a couple of lighter e-bikes with limited range. The manager remembered my name/review, called and suggested we swap out the bikes if we wanted to do a longer ride, which we did. It great experience like the first time.
