CannaCruz — Attraction in Santa Cruz

I have been a customer for a few years and prior to this review would have given them a five star rating, however, I was attacked by the unleashed dog of another of their customers on the sidewalk outside their building. (Bitten three times, knocked off the sidewalk, breaking my foot). I let the receptionist know what happened and provided my contact info, was told a manager would reach out, that did not happen. My boyfriend went into the location the next day to request the video/information and was told a manager would reach out, that did not happen. I was contacted by a Public Health Nurse today, stating I need to get a rabies shot, because Canna Cruz is refusing to provide Animal Control with the dog owners info and AC is unable to locate and quarantine the animal. I called again, begging Canna Cruz to provide the info to AC and was told that the owner would call me back. That has not happened. I am so disappointed.

Update: Shortly after posting this review, CEO Grant Palmer contacted me. He stated that he obtained the offending animals vet records and they are current on their rabies vaccine. He hopes I understand why they will not provide the dog owners information to Animal Control and said he encouraged the owner to contact AC of his own volition. I do understand protecting personal information, though, I believe protecting my life is slightly more important, especially considering dog bites are not a crime and quarantining the animal for both of our safety is warranted.

2nd Update re owner response: It took you eleven days (not 24 hrs) to call me. I did not request or need the perpetrators personal information, I needed you to comply with the request from Animal Control for the information. (The perpetrator will face the consequences of violating PC 398 by failing to provide either myself or AC his contact details and the animals records within 48 hrs of the attack.) You have not provided the animals vaccination records to me, just an assurance over the phone that you have seen the records and the animal is current on rabies vaccine. I'm still concerned about rabies because I have not seen the evidence and if I were to show symptoms of infection, it will be too late to save my life. I appreciate that you have finally provided me with the videos and I wish it hadn't taken writing this review for you contact me, but you ignored multiple requests over the first eleven days! On top of the pain and trauma of being viciously attacked and wounded, I am saddened that you initially chose protecting the perpetrators identity over protecting my life. Also, unfortunately, you are involved. The perpetrator and myself made purchases inside your store within a few minutes of each other. Your staff was kind enough to warn me that an unleashed dog was inside before I shopped and I made the choice to wait outside until the perpetrator left, and that's when the attack happened. Thank you for changing your policy and now requiring that all dogs in your store must be leashed, hopefully this prevents anyone else from being injured.

Went to CannaCruz for our first time when checked in by the Manager. He alerted us we will recieve a 10% discount on the entire store. So we were there to spend a good penny. We ordered 2 1/2 oz and a bunch of other product. The entire time asking the employee are we going to recieve the 10% discount on our purchase. As we were checking out we consistently asked if we will recieve the discount. We must of asked 10x at this point. We knew we weren't getting the discount cause anyone can do basic math and figure 10% discounts. Unfortunately their staff is incapable of this and must think guests are just as incapable of simple math. When given the receipt no discount was added so we asked for said discount. Instead the manager came over and in extremely condescending manner said well the product is already discounted so it doesnt apply. But sir you said when we checked in applies to everything. "I said we have asked numerous times whether it applies or not and you said yes and no it doesnt apply and yall talking to us like were stupid is wild." He responded with dont throw shade at us. Sir your entire team thru the shade towards yourselves by messing up. I laughed at him and he said dont escalate this. I said only person escalating this situation is you im laughing at this man. Apparently freedom of speech doesnt apply in this establishment. And laughing is a form of escalation or more over its a pure case of power control and beta mentality management.
