Renegade Theater Co — Attraction in Santa Cruz

Renegade Theater Co. is a community gem. I have seen almost every one of their productions and am always impressed with the level of talent, the diverse choice of shows, and the joy and heart that goes into every Renegade performance. What an amazing gift to the youth of Santa Cruz county to have the opportunity to be part of this amazing theater family. Renegade is clearly a labor of love for artistic director Kyle Vasquez, who pours her heart into creating a supportive environment for her performers and staff to thrive, grow, and create lifelong memories. I am so impressed by this theatre group! I've seen three shows - two teen performances and an adult show, and they have all been performed with passion, creativity, and joy. The teens have tackled complex and challenging subject matter with skill and grace, and the adult performance of Cabaret was humorous and devastating at the same time. It is evident how much work, craft, and inventiveness goes into these shows - from casting and acting as well as the staging, art direction, and directorial choices. Amazing all around! The choices of plays are timely, relevant and exciting. With awesome costumes, sets and direction, the performances are wonderful and the actors thrive!
