Update: took some better photos; still not perfect, but better!
Update 2: removing 4 stars because the owner said a racial slur :(
Update 3: I went back because I thought it might me a one time thing and I wanted to give them a second chance, anddd they said it again…
Update 4: I got kinda obsessed with crystal finding over the past year and now I can confirm that most of the crystals here are medium-poor quality and there’s not much variety at all. Mostly just tumbled stones. Also, the prices are fairly similar to other in-person stores and I doubt they’re collected ethically. Some other stores in this area that are better include Dimitridon Rock Studios and Spirit Dreams, although I can’t confirm the ethicality of these stores, they have better crystals and more variety, and none of these employees have said racial slurs! Don’t go here; racists don’t deserve your money.
Other recommendations for ethical crystal shopping would be going to mineralogy expos and checking the booths there, a rule of thumb for those booths is to search for people who mine their own gems, those stores will usually only sell one or two sorts of crystals. Also, join rockhounding groups and buy directly from miners. You can also find people selling their collection on places like facebook marketplace or at local markets. Stores that specialize in gemstones or rocks are more likely to know exactly where their supply is coming from. Ask questions about ethicality, and only buy religious or spiritual products from people of that culture who actively practice that religion. Don’t buy from here, you can get so much better without causing any potential harm to the environment and the people who mined your gems.
Old Review: Love it!! Just went there today, and it was so great I had to write a review as soon as I left. The prices are sooo cheap; they were selling crystals (photos attached) for only one dollar each (there were some exceptions for larger/rarer/carved gems, but still fairly cheap). Online stores sold similar quality pieces for at 3 dollars, at the very cheapest, note that the ones online are often lower quality and you can’t choose the exact one. I’m not sure about the quality, but the crystals are absolutely gorgeous, the photos do not do them justice.
On a non-crystal-related topic, there was soooo much variety here! It looks like a small selection at first sight, but once you start looking around you’ll find hundreds of options you didn’t see before. The store sells essential oils (at least a fifty different scents), incense sticks (about forty or so scents), crystals (I’d guess about twenty kinds?), tarot cards, statues, jewelry, books, herbs, candles, clothes, general decor, palmistry stuffs, a whole gallery of religious items, and even more! The store itself is gorgeous, it looks straight out of Hogsmeade (from the Harry Potter books)!
The owner is sweet and very helpful, they seem to know everything about each product available and are willing to help you choose whatever’s best for you. They also know a lot about what various crystals are meant to do, and even though I personally don’t believe in that, it’s great to have someone so knowledgeable working there!
And also, the store has a huge variety of incense sticks (I got vanilla!).
The only con is that the store isn’t very digital, you may need to bring physical cash. They use handwritten gift certificates rather than gift cards, and checking out products will take a bit longer than usual due to less digital equipment. I believe they’ll also buy your stuff if you wish to sell them, but I’m not sure and if you’re planning on selling you should probably call them first to check.
Another thing; I did edit the photos so they’d look more accurate, but the photos are still horrible at representing how gorgeous these gems are. I only included a few photos, but I did end up buying a...
Read moreMother Moons Metaphysical Supply Store isn’t just a shop; it’s a haven. A sanctuary. A breath of something real in a world too cluttered with its own noise. From the moment you step through the door, it hits you—this feeling like you’ve stumbled onto something sacred. The stones glint on their shelves like secrets waiting to be told. Every piece feels chosen, like they have their own story, their own heartbeat.
But the real pull of the place isn’t just the stones. It’s Mother Moon herself. There’s something about her—like she’s part of the earth, like she carries the weight of all its mysteries but still smiles when she sees you. She doesn’t just sell crystals; she gives you a piece of her world, and for a little while, you believe in things again. Big things. Quiet things. Things you’d almost forgotten.
I don’t go there as often as I’d like. Maybe it’s because every visit feels too important to squander. When I need a stone, a real one, with meaning, with power, I go to her. Not for the stone, but for the moment of it all—the feeling like you’ve come home, if only for a while.
If you find yourself in Saugatuck, don’t overthink it—just go. Push the door open and step into something more than a store. It’s like walking into someone’s heartbeat, every pulse alive with intention and care. You don’t just see it—you feel it. The stones, the space, her presence—it’s all connected, and for a moment, so are you. You’ll understand the second it happens, as if it had been waiting for...
Read moreMother Moon is a little tiny shop attached to the side of a local coffee shop in downtown Saugatuck Michigan. At first it seems crowded with merchandise but you quickly get pulled into the magic of this little shop. Each shelf has new and wonderful things. It is one of my go to stores for rocks and crystals. An amazing selection of both. There is also beautiful jewelry and a collection of statues, oils, incenses, and just about anything else that you might expect in a little magic shop.
Mother Moon is not only the name of the store but of the wise proprietor. She knows her stuff when it comes to rocks, crystals, incense, and just about everything else else.
I could spend hours in that store… And I probably have a couple of times. I encourage you to go in and check it out but remember one thing, you must have an open mind to fully appreciate all the...
