UPDATE: I’m updating my review to reflect the current situation. I have been told that manager is no longer at this store. To verify, I’ve gone in a few times, looking for her. I haven’t seen her. I’m still not impressed that this particular person was promoted in the first place. There used to be some really amazing people that worked at this store. I believe her being in charge chased them away, but I don’t know. However, as of right now they are better than they were a month ago. I am cautiously adding stars to my review. The fact that goodwill allowed this woman the power she had makes me not want to give it a lot of stars. However, she may have duped them into thinking she was someone valuable, and maybe they regretted that decision. So I’ll add more stars here and there, depending on how things go from now on.
Do NOT shop here. Salvation Army cares about its customers, Goodwill doesn’t even care if they have any. Upon going to Goodwill, my son, who has a serious medical condition, requiring him stay mask free or it could kill him (he has a doctor’s note), was told to put on a mask. He told them he has a medical condition that requires he not wear a mask, and, not wanting to get that employee in trouble, asked to speak to management. The new manager came out, “guns a blazing.” She said, “Wear a mask or get out!” My son told her he can’t. She said, “then we don’t want you here. Wear a mask or leave.” Dear management, learn that you don’t have a job if you don’t care about your customers. Your selfish “one size fits all” approach is going...
Read moreI'm sending this email to report a manager at 2510 N Ashmun St, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. On July 10th, 2023 we (2 female travelers from New Mexico - Education Teachers) was in need of refuge from a large storm. We gratefully found this Goodwill around 2am and used the canopy to protect us from the storm. As a former Goodwill HR/Accounting employee I live my life upholding the Vision/Mission statement of the Goodwill Industries which is to assist those in need. However, this manager may need additional training on those values or simply is not Goodwill Ambassador material. Instead of asking if we needed help, around 8am she parked next to us blew her horn and said "Get off MY property, you spent half the night under my canopy and the cops are coming". I returned by attempting to thank/apologize but she stormed off. As the police came, I explained about the storm, who we are as professionals and that this is our summer vacation as well as the fact that I am a Michigan Native as well as visiting to assist my Grandmother who is suffering from early Dementia. I also told Officer Brooks and her my previous employment at Goodwill and stated "We were going to come in and thank you, shop and buy pet food next store. However, after your appalling and unnecessary treatment and behavior we will not". Please take the time to request/view Incident #2811-23 (City of Sault St. Marie PD) and educate and reprimand this employee on the purpose of your organization and pass this email to the appropriate contacts. Attached is a...
Read moreGood prices on children's clothing. Used to go here all the time. Some of the pricing is ridiculous. Boutique items are ludicrous. $30 for used clothes? No. Over use of white tags that don't go half off ever. Last year someone donated a bunch of kids stuff in boxes. So granted it was new, but you could tell they had been stored all banged up. They put white stickers and priced them same as store. Store has free shipping and deals. I go to look for kids jeans that's the only good deal in the whole store and most of the time that's after I luck out at Salvation Army. I HATE how kids clothes are organized. I found 9 month infant jeans thrown in with size 12! It's like they...
