My son and law and I live very close to crosswinds so it’s a very convenient public course to play. It’s always been decent except after a hard rain. I took off work early to play 9 on my way home and was charged 25$.
I was never told I had any time limit at all by management upon paying. On the course I had a twosome in front of me that golfed slowed then grass grows, pretty sure they were using six balls each so a quick 9 turned out much longer then anticipated as I waited holes 1-7.
Then as I pulled up to hole 8 here come dozens of golf carts like the place was being invaded, they just started a tournament on a Tuesday night. A foursome pulled up right in front of me and teed off like I wasn’t even there. I was going to wait but they had balls going all over the place, I said nope and headed back to the clubhouse. I find 25$ very expensive for 7 holes of golf on a Tuesday I’m sorry. Had management informed me of a tourney I would have chose another course. Never offered any sort of refund, told me the tourney started on the 1st and 10th hole. Not true because as I Drove back I could see tourney players that had started on 9,10 and 11. If crosswinds is going to hold mid week tourney tell walk ins prior to paying, they also need somebody out on the course watching slow play.
Seems to me with all the tourneys and colleges they bring in it’s nothing more then all about the benjamins and who cares about the everyday joe that comes in every couple of weeks.
Nice course but way to unpredictable for the price, I’ll be going elsewhere it’s worth...
Read moreThe course is in great shape. Only half of the range was open when I arrived (looked fully operational as I left) and there’s certainly something to be desired when it comes to their practice facilities overall. That said, it’s walkable to/from airport or a five minute ride share. You’re able to shower at the course too, so no need to stink up the plane. Approaching aircraft make for some added entertainment and gators are laying out here and there. The greens rolled well but I did notice some spots needing attention. Tee boxes looked weathered here and there but were fine overall. I wish more courses would place coolers filled with free water bottles everywhere. Loved that! Thank you. Staff was beyond friendly and allowed me to store luggage. It wasn’t secure and I think that’d be a huge plus considering the airport’s proximity. Some sort of luggage check similar to a hotel would really help and wouldn’t require much change. I didn’t have time to try the restaurant. I played one of the best rounds of my life here. Don’t remember ratings off the top of my head, but it’s not super tough. For the price, you can’t go wrong. I’ll 100% play here whenever I’m traveling to Savannah by plane. I’d rate this place 9/10 if I could but 4/5 seems unfair. I mean it’s SOOOOO close to...
Read moreNot a good experience. Had some suspicious transactions on my CC. Initially came in and requested 9 holes for two, cart and a medium range balls. Paid for it (in full!! $58/twilight), went to the range, sent daughter back inside to rent lefty clubs. Noticed a second transaction for $75!!. I called later and asked how much were club rentals, they said $35. I asked why is it showing 75? Their explanation was it was 35 plus nine holes ($40). After i paid for two golfers initially, ten minutes before and it wasnt $40 per golfer. So in total, they charged me/2ppl... $130 for NINE holes, cart, rental club and medium range balls...... AT TWILIGHT!! It was 5:10pm. So if we never came back in to rent lefty clubs it would've stayed $58? Doesn't make any sense. It seems they charge me an extra round/golfer. Now that they are trying to recoup that digital range setup cost, by being non transparent in transactions, I wont be back here. And yes, the greens are playable but pretty bad, and its not "temporary" like they may want you to believe. They just don't care to maintain it. "If it aint broke (people still coming), dont fix it" type of thing. Everytime i came here, over the years,...
