When I travel, I always stay at HIE and have always had a good experience. The manager on duty could not have been nicer! He was literally the only thing this particular HIE had going for it! Very professional. When I arrived, I did notice that the entry and lobby were dated, but....was busy checking in so didn't think too much about it at first arrival. This is where the review goes downhill! After I got my room key and started bringing my items to my room I was literally shocked at the sheer lack of attention to cleaning and outdated dirty furnishings and decor. This particular HIE hotel was just plain dirty, in need of professional repairs and needs to get rid of the very dated and dirty furnishings. Whomever is the maintenance / repair crew, they are lacking in knowledge of how to properly repair or replace broken items because everywhere you looked, it was obvious something had been broken and just cheaply repaired. The door going into my room looked liked it had been kicked in and the handset replaced many times and their was absolutely no attention to detail trying to replace it to make it look like it was fixed properly. The door frame leading into my room was all cracked like someone took a crowbar to it. It was all such a mess and I looked around at all the doors going down the hallway into the hotel rooms, and they were all the exact same mess. My actual room smelled like someone had been smoking in it. The furnishings and nasty carpet looked like they were from the 70's or 80's....maybe the 90's and NEVER been cleaned or replaced. The carpet had red slushie or koolaid stains and the sleeper sofa couch had stains all over the outside and I can't even imagine what the inside of that sleeper sofa looked like or that anyone would be able to sleep on it! It was late when I arrived, I booked this hotel prior to arrival and everything around me was sold out or I would have left! Again, the manager on duty was so nice and I felt terrible for him. But this hotel is in need of a MAJOR RENOVATION!!!! The owner's of this hotel franchise need to have their franchise revoked! Seriously, I have never seen a HIE like this. I cannot recommend you stay at...
Read moreI've now stayed at this location 4 times in a month. Only my first visit was reflected in my original review, and that was the only time it was good. My 4th visit this weekend will be my last, I'll pick a different hotel from now on.
My 2nd and 3rd weekend at the hotel I had a room in the elevator area and hated it. I asked for a room away from the elevator and was placed 1 room over from the elevator area. Still listened to that damn thing all night along with every single person coming and going. On this visit my floor was filthy and sticky, I had to clean it myself and the towel photo shows the results.
My thermostat did not work so I had to use the controls on the unit. This meant that I had to decide between 50 degrees and 90 degrees, there was nothing in between. Table was filthy as well.
Small breakfast area was sufficient but crowded with staff making several plates of food. Housekeeping staff is incredibly loud talking and yelling to each other from one side of the floor to the other.

I like Holiday Inn because many things are standardized across locations, so you know more or less what you're getting. It's not the most luxurious but the staff is amazing, the rooms are pretty clean, and you have a decent breakfast in the morning.
This location was above standard in my opinion. The staff was especially helpful and friendly, the room was was really clean (I check the bed and the toilet, everything else is whatever..), and I thought the breakfast was good. I didn't use the pool and only spent 2 nights.
Edit to add: this little area of hotels in general is the best place to be when visiting Savannah with a vehicle. The other side of the highway is traffic 24/7, there are good restaurants but you don't want to deal with that just going to/from your hotel. From here you can also go the back way around the airport into downtown Savannah with ease, and you'll be there...
Read moreAfter carefully reviewing many options near the SAV airport that offer shuttle service to the airport, I chose this location because on the website it clearly states that shuttle service was available. I had a 7am departure, so needed to be there no later than 6am.
Check in was smooth and the woman at the desk was efficient and gracious. When I inquired about shuttle procedures (do I need to sign up now? Or just show up at designated time?)- she unfortunately said “The shuttle does not start until 6:30am”. Ummmm, WHAT?? I explained that that I had thoroughly researched shuttle availability and the website stated as such. I even pulled up the website and showed her the page. Clearly she is just the messenger and I appreciate her predicament.
So, instead of being a good overall value and convenient option WiTH shuttle service. It ended up costing extra to schedule an Uber ride.
What the website needs to say is either “shuttle service limited hours” or “call hotel for shuttle hours” or something that would lead the customer to call and inquire.
Next, the mattress and pillows were worn out. You could feel the springs in the mattress both sitting and lying on the bed. It was the worst night of sleep the whole week of traveling.
Lastly, if this hotel is used for just a quick stop and no restaurant or food is required- its an “ok” option. The Wendy’s closed at 5:30pm and the only restaurant nearby is a 1/4 mile walk across and down a very busy street/intersection. And of course no shuttle to take you there….. The hotel pantry was out of bottled water as well so it was Uber Eats...
