Rude rude personnel. Millitary folks should avoid this hotel, save your dignity. Every time we drive that area (and that happens often) I think I need to share my expirience so it won't happen to anyone else. My husband and I tried to get a room there on June 19th, 2023. While driving in I75 I called ahead to ask if they have any available rooms and can I get a military rate. I was given a price and was told there are rooms availabe. I couldn't reserve it on a phone because we were driving and my bag with my credit card was in a back of the car. So I said ok I'll be there in 10 minutes. We get to the hotel the front desk woman told us they don't accept walk-ins, she gave us a rate almost twice of what was said on a phone. She seemed annoyed and was very short with us. (Her moods shouldn't be customer's problem). We told her we just got off the phone with the hotel telling us they'll give us a military rate. We showed her our military IDs and rewards number and we use this particular hotel every time we're going this rout. There was another woman, she rushed to the back office and came back with some kind of paper and started poking her finger showing that it says they don't accept walk-ins and they don't give military discount any more. The whole scene was almost comical and got out of hands really quickly. We've used this hotel and got this rate so many times and we were always walk-ins. It's the hotel of the highway for crying out loud. Man on a phone just gave a military rate 10 minutes ago. So somebody is either lying or just lazy to do their job. We were confused and asked them to call this number and ask maybe they are mistaken, we are all humans it happens. Both women became aggressive, almost like they knew they were wrong but won't admit it so they wanted to get rid of us. It was hard to talk to them. They were raising their voices. Some people in a lobby started paying attention to what was going on. Poor new girl - trainee had big round eyes not knowing how to react. The whole situation felt we were attacked by those two. So we just said, you clearly don't want us here and we definitely don't need this circus. There are at least 10 other hotels at this exit we won't have any problems finding a nicer place and we left. Those two women will teach that new trainee some "hospitality"... There was zero respect to us as customers or humanbeings or military. We supported this hotel during pandemic, they seemed to be happy to have us AS WALK-INS and military. Now it just gave us a feeling we've been used during hard times and thrown away when they are doing well... Employees need to be trained before they start working with customers because some of them have no idea what they are there for. They can't even talk in a normal tone of voice. Those women are so unprofessional. I've never seen anything like that. Just put up a sight on the entry door "NO WALK-INS". That'll save us all some trouble. About military rates: if you can't give military rate don't advertise it, don't offer it on a phone. We'll pay the full price or go elsewhere. But don't treat us like sh*t. Next time you think about your freedom think who protects it. That night we went to Marriott and got a nice room for a good military rate with a very personable lady at the front desk, had dinner at their restaurant and some happy hour drinks after a long day. It was a pleasant experience with no fuss. And it was worth every penny. This is how you...
Read moreThis place has really gone downhill. While the people were friendly and kind as usual, overall, things just were not worth the HGI prices.
On our recent stay, we paid $30 extra for the breakfast package, only to find out that normal things like waffles or omelets were no longer included with the breakfast package. I wish I had known that ahead of time because we wouldn't have paid for the meal package. That was the final insult, though, after a less than great stay overall.
Things started out poorly when our reservation for 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) was met with towel sets for just 3 of us. That was when we discovered the phone in the room was broken - no dial tone, no ability to call to the front desk. On my trip to the front desk to seek out another towel set, I reported the broken phone (no big deal, I thought).
The next problem was with the shower. We figured out we could have either scalding hot water or freezing cold water; but nothing in between. Having to play "hide in the corner of the shower to avoid second degree burns" pretty much sucked.
The next issue was when we realized there were just 3 pillows in the room for two queen beds (normally there are 3 pillows per queen bed - what the heck?). So I picked up the pho- crap, walked down to the lobby again, and explained the situation and asked could we have a couple of extra pillows. The front desk lady said she'd call us when we could come get them; I reminded her "but our phone is broken, remember?". She promised she'd have the pillows brought up. An hour later, no pillows, and we were all trying to get to sleep; so I walked back down to the front desk, inquired again about the pillows, and was told "Oh, I have them right here, I kept calling you but you have the phone off the hook." Um.....WTH? "No, the phone is broken, I've reported this twice already."
I wouldn't recommend spending your money to stay here; there have got to be better-run hotels with better deals nearby. Best of luck in...
Read moreNot a good experience. Several staff members were just out right rude to guest. My personal interactions with the staff were not the reason for the low review. However, I did see interactions with other hotel guests that were shocking to see in the customer service industry. While at the counter requesting towels and rags (the lady helping me was pleasant), the other lady who ignored me when I walked up was obnoxious. A guest came in with a service dog, she yelled across the lobby, ma'am is that a dog? The guest said, yes. The front desk lady yells, I have to charge you $75 for that! The customer says I reserved the pet room, and was told it was $50. Front desk lady still yelling across the lobby with 15 to 20 people in the area, who told you that? Another customer and I looked at each other both sayin wow; we then went on our way. Saw another situation at the breakfast counter (with friends we were traveling with) and another later at the front desk. Heard four other guest at random, saying how rude the staff was. Overheard the front desk guy tell a customer who asked if they had rooms with a king bed available. He said yes, the rate is $$$, but I can give it to you for less $$$. So ask for a lower rate if you do book here. The rooms were good and location was right near the airport and interstate. Nearby was an Outlet mall, Walmart, Publix, lots of eating and shopping options. There are several hotels in this area, next to each other. Also make sure you request maid service if you want your room serviced while away (fresh towels, rags, bed linens, trash), it is not automatic...
