Meineke Recreation Center — Attraction in Schaumburg Township

Don't go to Meineke's Adult Open Volleyball if you don't like seeing whole teams being discriminated against because they don't play perfectly. Drove an hour for the worst open volleyball experience ever. So glad other places are full of kind people who let everyone join in because it is OPEN volleyball. I was ashamed of the people there who absolutely refused to play with one of the teams because they aren't as skilled, leaving that team to play with no one. Never again. There were enough people for 4 teams. You play a couple and then you switch. People refused because they didn't want to play with this polish team. They weren't horrible! So they couldn't slam their spikes down! Who cares? The volleyball snobs would rather rotate 3 teams, having obviously one team sitting out while they wait to play the winner, while the polish team is on a court...

It is a wonderful place, however, staff do not keep up with maintenance of the LIFETIME treadmills and bikes. There are always 2-3 treadmills that do not have a TV or a heart monitor which can be dangerous for some who depend upon it. The weekday day staff are friendly and courteous but the weekend kids often have their heads down on the counter sleeping and, even when told that the cleaning towelettes are empty or the hand rail is filthy, ignore your request. Honestly amazing park its so amazing that we thought we needed to pay for it to play in it. I am a child myself so you’re hearing from the child’s perspective. One thing I really love about this park is that not a lot of people know about it because it’s literally in the middle of many houses but the locals here like me know it. Another great thing I love is the new playground you built it honestly felt like it wasn’t a play ground because there was so much to explore in it and I also love the obstacle course that was a great idea but I think the timer is a bit broken but other than that...
