I’ve been wanting to try Bisi’s Nigerian cuisine for ages and finally got around to it last Saturday evening! I ordered about $133 for carry out (the restaurant isn’t currently doing dine-in); I added a 50% tip. My order consisted of the following: Oxtail Pepper Soup, Suya (skirt steak skewers), Jollof Rice with goat meat, Asun & Rice (spicy goat meat dish), Ayamashe (hot & green peppers with herbs dish), and Chopped Okra Soup (the restaurant’s owner, Tony, enhanced this dish - which I thought was GREAT - by adding tripe and crispy beef skin to it)! Overall, I thoroughly LOVED all the food I ordered; it was all very fresh, hearty and flavorful! Tony even gave me a big, cold refreshing bottle of palm juice to drink with my meal)! The spicy dishes all had just the right amount of fire to them and didn’t overpower the flavor. Plus, my order only took about 30 minutes or so, to prepare! (I waited outside in my truck for my order, which Tony kindly brought out to me—such quick and professional service!) I ate even better food than what Anthony Bourdain had when he visited Nigeria in 2017 for his Parts Unknown TV series! I think that once the restaurant is able to offer the dine-in option, I will definitely come in for that (but carry out is totally fine by me); the inside was clean and had elegant dining tables, chairs and booths—so I could picture a nice upscale dining experience to come! I definitely plan on coming back since there are a lot more items on the large and exotic menu I’m still...
Read moreToday my wife and kids decided to stray from our usual African Food Spot “Mukase”. This was the WORST decision Ive made in a while. We Ordered 2 orders of Egusi soup with my meat being Chicken; and a side order of beef as I tried to play it safe her meat was Goat. The side order of beef alone was 6+ dollars and about the size of a Mandarin Orange. This egusi soup was hands down the worst I’ve ever had. My wife complained of it being watered down and fishy. To me it was watered down and didn’t hold any much flavor or spice. The chicken I had was the biggest chicken leg I’ve ever seen I’m honestly questioning if it was really chicken at all. It was clearly undercooked because it was pinkish in the middle with the texture of boiled chicken on the outside. One thing they did right was the jollof rice . I strongly recommend that and so do my kids. Now as for the plantains, you’d be better off eating a bag of cold French fries from McDonald’s. There was not even a hint of sweetness to them. Also I found it extremely disappointing that there were bones and bone fragments randomly lodged in my Egusi soup even tho I ordered mine with chicken.
At the end of the day this disgusting meal that we had to put down after trying to force feed ourselves for 5 minutes costed us $67.15
Would not recommend to my...
Read moreIf you're looking for a truly authentic Nigerian dining experience, this spot does not disappoint. The Egusi Soup paired with Fufu is a standout. The soup is rich and hearty, with a perfect blend of ground melon seeds, spinach, and various meats, all cooked together to create a deep, savory flavor. The texture of the soup is thick, almost creamy, making it the ideal complement to the soft, pillowy fufu. The fufu, which is made from pounded yam is perfectly cooked—smooth, stretchy, and just the right consistency for dipping into the soup.
The portions are generous, and you can taste the authenticity in every bite. It’s clear that the chefs use fresh, high-quality ingredients and follow traditional cooking methods. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with a strong sense of community. You’ll often hear upbeat Afrobeat music playing in the background, adding to the vibrant vibe of the place.
If you're new to Nigerian food, this is a great spot to start, and if you're already familiar, you’ll feel right at home with the familiar flavors and comforting dishes. The service is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, this restaurant offers a truly immersive experience, bringing the bold, spicy flavors of Nigeria right to your plate....
