2.5 overall. And I slept on this for a day before writing this extensively honest review... I order 3 al pastor tacos , and am told they are out.. ok cool, I switched to steak (carne asada) , and total was 16.65.. for 3 tacos , so I said Holy Cow, "is there a cheaper option , or like a dinner-plate?" As I saw the plate comes with 3 tacos rice and beans for 15 cents more, I said "cool let me upcharge to the dinner plate that comes with the 3 (steak) tacos " almost spent 17-18 dollars after tax, as I'm thinking, dang.. that's a little tough; but I was meeting a good friend of mine there while he was having a tough time.. so I didn't sweat spending 18 of my last 25 dollars I had cash to my name ( don't go here if your on a budget obviously- note to self) I thought... ok... so when I opened the odd Jewelry bag and box my order came in, I was SHOCKED by how skimpy wimpy the tacos were.... ate the whole "combo" "plate "dinner" "tacos" for 20 bucks in about 3 bites , as the guy from behind the counter kept saying "have a blessed day"
...lol it was a bad day , and taco Maya did not make it one ounce better ...
out of al pastor (and 2 sauces/salsas) overcharged + almost upcharged under served (skimped) overpackaged? (Wasn't a thing until now) kept telling me to have a blessed day as if they were real prideful while doing all these things
Way better off finding an authentic taco truck 🚚 like I used to go to in little village.. $1-$2 tacos Filled To The Brim in goodness.. fresh, Great , genuine, humbleness without the fancy packaging , and blessings in disguised of overcharged and under served tacos. Skimpy Maya is my new name for it sadly, as this was my 2nd + now last time going ever again ... without the 1 sauce they had in stock and the 3 "have a blessed day's" made this a solid 2-2.5 star place instead of a 1 star. God have mercy on you , for he has blessed me, and was not through taco...
Read moreI don’t leave bad reviews but this time I had to , I am here in town visiting on a vacation and tried here before heading back home. I wasn’t greeted when I came in , nor did the guy offer to assist us tho we looked confused no big deal we figured it out , my husband is allergic to beans and we didn’t see the other nacho option but had already paid for the nacho supreme my quesadilla came out before my husband, which is weird right due to him having just nachos meat and cheese in our head. He finally comes out with my husband’s food after serving another table there when we seen that his food had refried beans on it we asked before he got to the counter if he can remake it because we’re not gonna eat he’s not gonna be Able to eat that the guy stands there and argues with us when we ask for a simple remake, and he had refused and continue to argue with us. I finally did had asked for a refund we asked for a manager, and we also asked for it to get remake like I said the first time he refused after I Finally started to get upset and loud inside of the restaurant and cause the scene he thhen decided to go ask the cooks if he could get the order remade and they came back to offer a remake order (something that could have been so simple RIGHT ?) when asked for a manager he said there isn’t one he is in charge. I didn’t get a name. He was very, very rude and I would never Come back here again with customer service like this, especially to visitors makes me wonder how he treats the locals.
Also the chicken in my quesadilla was salty. And I also had some onions in it when it wasn’t pose to be but I was fine it was my husband that was my concern, I’m not petty but he was dead wrong for how he handled the situation especially when my husband is a restaurant manager and we both know the system when it comes to that especially when the food...
Read moreFirst and foremost, the tacos were delicious. They were packed with meat and even better, the meat wasn’t just fatty chewy pieces. The salsas were tasty and spicy, the horchata was also delicious and refreshing.
The only reason they get 3 stars is because they are highly overpriced. My boyfriend and I were looking for something tasty and quick and it was about 9:30 on a Wednesday. Most people who live in the suburbs know it’s hard to find anything open past 9 pm unless it’s fast food. None the less, we saw this spot and figured it was worth checking out.
While the flavors were there, like I said it was overpriced. My boyfriend ordered 3 steak tacos with cilantro and cheese. I ordered three steak tacos with cilantro, tomato, lettuce, and avocado. We also got two “regular sized” horchatas. All of that was $45 plus tax.
My tacos didn’t really have lettuce, which isn’t a problem. But the horchatas were so small that I thought they were child sized and while the tacos were delicious, I couldn’t see why this came out so much money. I was born and raised on the west side of Chicago and know there’s plenty of tastier and better taco shops that wouldn’t even cost half of this.
I understand most places are understaffed and inflation plays a key role, but to spend that much money on just two people? I could never again. Not for just tacos. I can see if we got meals but just tacos and a kid sized horchata? Ill stick to making it at home or taking the time to venture...
