Iāve been a client at Salon Rock for almost 2 years, and unfortunately, my most recent experiences have been very disappointing. When I first started seeing Acacia, I was impressed with her skill in color correction and cuts, which is why I was willing to pay higher prices and trusted her enough to experiment with different toners and colors. That trust, however, has been broken after multiple negative experiences.
A few months ago, I asked Acacia if she was comfortable doing a gray dye, and I made it clear that if she wasnāt, I was fine not pursuing the look. She assured me she could. After nearly seven hours in the chair, my hair turned out cobalt blue underneath platinum blonde ā completely different from what I requested. Instead of taking accountability, she blamed the product, despite admitting she used a discontinued color she wasnāt familiar with because she was rushing before a trip. I was charged $360 and only refunded the dye after I asked. The experience left me devastated, and I ended up cutting off a significant portion of my hair due to the damage.
Despite this, I gave her another chance for a root touch-up. I clearly communicated the date of my upcoming wedding and when I could pay. Acacia showed up a week early, then became upset with me for the mix-up, even though the correct date had been communicated over text. Later, she asked me for a āgenerous tip,ā which felt unprofessional and entitled.
When I ultimately canceled my rescheduled appointment (with notice), she became upset and claimed I should pay her a deposit or cancellation fee ā neither of which had ever been mentioned in the years Iāve been her client, nor are they listed on Salon Rockās website. Accusing me of being disrespectful, she blamed me for her own scheduling choices, which I find highly unprofessional.
Policies like deposits and cancellation fees are valid if communicated upfront, but inventing them after the fact and blaming clients is unacceptable. After years of loyalty, Iām deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for clientsā time and money. I was told I could of fixed it on my own with scissors and i could of ran through it. Thats completely unacceptable. I paid hard earned money. I hardly do things for myself as a mother. Just because hair cuts are so expensive and im on a budget. Not many people separate hair by sections and run through it a few times to make sure things are cut properly. I feel like scissors were quickly run through. I went home and noticed more long pieces. I love it when my hair has alot of layers. There wasn't any layers on the bottom section of my hair. I clearly explained what I wanted and I feel it wasn't met. I like my hair textured at the end so it doesn't look like a rough cut. That wasn't done. Style of cutting seems a little old school. I got highlights and a bangs cut and it turned out even better than I could have hoped. The salon is owned by the nicest, most creative wonderful people. There was never a moment I wasn't smiling about whatever we were talking about. I have had bangs for about 5 years now and am very used to hairdressers messing them up, but I am elated to say that Rain did a WONDERFUL job with them. We gave them the worst circumstances since we had an dinner we were trying to make and we booked the appointment the same day, and they still did an amazing job. They were very sweet about making sure we got to dinner on time but were also very careful to perfect their work.
