I stayed here on a roadtrip with my mom in the beginning of April. I had several problems.
First of all, this is not as advertised. It's made to seem like it's a mid-range hotel on a golf course when in all reality it is an old motel with some coats of paint slapped on it and a few pictures hung up to hide disrepair. It is across the street from a golf course, but half the hotel looks into a sketchy parking lot. There is no fan in the bathroom so taking a shower or bath feels disgustingly hot and there is no way to air the bathroom out if it gets funky. The room was also saturated in cleaning chemicals which would be extremely triggering to someone with asthma.
When I showed up to check in, everything was okay. The guy checking me in was polite enough, but when he asked about my car he made sure to tell me to park in front of my hotel room and that my car would probably be okay. Sounds like something you tell people when you have a problem with car break ins.
Even with those things, I would've likely given this place three stars...but we had a pretty scary experience here in the evening. Around 10:30pm, we heard a child crying, a woman screaming and a man's voice shouting loudly as footsteps pounded down the hallway. This fight stopped in front of my door and I was treated to the manager screaming at this woman to get out of the hotel or he would call the cops. The woman was screaming back that she had a receipt for the room and to go ahead and call the police. She was trying to tell him she had reservations and where she booked, but he seemed more interested in physically chasing her and her small child. It was bordering on assault and was certainly threatening behavior. Now, I have no idea what the mix up was or how this woman got a room key if she wasn't supposed to be there, but I have worked in the hospitality business for 20 years and I have never witnessed any hotel staff or management treating someone in this way (And if I ever did, that employee would be fired on the spot). It's especially disgusting because it was a lone woman with her young child. Even if she was in the wrong, which I don't think she was, this is not at all the way that you handle this type of problem. All I can say is that if I was ever treated this way at a hotel or motel, the next contact they would receive from me would not be an angry review on Yelp, but a call from a lawyer and possible criminal charges from the police as I would've filed an assault charge against the manager and gone after the hotel for damages.
This becomes more concerning the next morning when I go to check out. I go up to the desk and the lovely young lady working asks how my stay was. I tell her the room was okay aside from their manager attacking a woman and child outside of my room at 10:30pm. She's obviously concerned and asked me what happened. I tell her what my mom and I witnessed. She then asks me "Was the manager male or female?" I tell her it was a male and she proceeds to say "Oh. I know who it is. Do you mind if I take down your number so the owner can contact you about this? This isn't the first time that employee has done something like this and the owner refuses to fire him. I'm hoping if you tell them what happened, maybe they finally will." I said sure and was told the owner would be returning the next week and to expect a call. There were four other people behind me at check out and a couple of them also heard the fight.
I held off on writing this review to see if the owner would contact me and resolve this issue. It's been two weeks now and crickets. To me that means they don't care that they have a violent, unhinged employee threatening female guests and their children. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as it seems there is a real risk of assault at the hands of their staff members, but LADIES especially, please stay away from this hotel. It...
Read moreStarting in 2016 we travel to the valley about 4 times per year. After trying a few different options in 2016, we've only stayed here. It's cozy. The "off season" is great. It's quiet. The staff is excellent. This really is a home away from home for us.
Only a few things I hope that management will see on this post... Please, please crack down on people smoking cigarettes and weed in rooms. Whether it involves paying a security person to do rounds routinely or allowing staff to be a bit more assertive and authoritative. I really hope this can get taken care of. As much as we love staying here, this really takes from our experience. We don't go on vacation to be inundated by the smell of marijuana smoke permeating from nearby rooms.
I've seen the pool area and outdoor furniture deteriorate over time. I do believe that the outdoor furniture has never been thoroughly gone through, maintained or replaced since we have been staying here routinely for many years. There are six sun umbrellas, including one up on the sun deck. All six are broke. They're inoperable and unable to be used to be able to sit in the shade. Though we don't mind the heat, to get out of the direct sun is certainly a benefit. I can only think that buying new sun umbrellas is minuscule in cost. Many of the chase lounges adjustable settings are broke. No doubt they are well used, but you cannot adjust yourself to fit your personal comfort setting while lounging at the pool. Again, I can only think that buying new lounges would be pretty miniscule in cost, considering how long they last. At best, I don't see why the lounges and the sun shade umbrellas can't be fixed.
The pool area has quite a few spots where the concrete paint is tattered and peeling up. Simple maintenance and upkeep will prevent this. It's not the most pleasant to walk on.
I honestly do not want to feel like I'm only complaining. As I stated in my onset, we love staying here. The beds are the most comfortable, the air conditioning works great. It truly is a good deal and an awesome place to stay. Just a heads up to all of those that book through a third party. In the long run, you really don't save a lot of money. If you book directly, staff will more directly help you should any issues arise. Booking third party only creates a middleman and so many things get lost in translation when trying to get certain things or issues figured out. Trust me, we've done both - booking through a third party and booking direct. I will only book direct. It will make your stay at 3 palms that much better!
Update from my summer stay in 2025. My stay was top notch, as usual. It's still the "other people" that break the rules and try to get away with smoking on-site or in the rooms that is annoying, bit I must say, I did see a couple get booted for being caught smoking pot in their room. That was nice to see. I would will like to see some of the sunshade umbrellas updated or fixed, but I am glad to see there were new chase lounges! Understandable that with new ownership things take time. My stay is still the most pleasant and...

Pros: Proximity to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Roughly 8 miles Beautiful El Dorado Park! It was fun to walk and see people enjoying the outdoors. The park was well lit at night and safe. Fry’s grocery store was a brisk walk under the bridge through the park avoiding crossing over busy McDowell Rd. There’s a few fast food places in walking distance. If you are brave enough, Waymo, the driverless car will pick you up and take you anywhere in its operating area. We took it to the airport in the morning. It was pretty cool. The wait time for one was under 3 minutes. You must download the app though.
CONS: "Resort" is a stretch when describing this place. Upon arrival, the grounds seemed fairly manicured. The front entrance and front desk was not what you’d expect from a resort. Small and not inviting. The clerk was cordial but looked a bit perturbed. Maybe just having a bad day. Before getting the keys, he asked for a card for incidentals. Normally $50 give or take but it was $100 and wouldn’t be refunded upon checkout. 5-7 business days!!! I’ll get to the reason of shock of the $100! Our room was upstairs didn’t see an elevator or signs so we decided to just take the stairs. When we got to our room, immediately you could tell that this was not resort quality by the musty smell. This place must of been a lower end motel at one point. There’s a saying in the home renovation business that says "just slap some lipstick on a pig and it will be pretty enough." That’s exactly what they did to this property but they needed more than lipstick. The decor looked leftover from the original motel. The furniture was falling apart, dirty, dingy and OLD! The paint color scheme was 1970s orange and brown. Again, it looked as if they kept the leftover paint from the previous motel. The carpet put in was done poorly. Never in my many stays at resorts that a wooden pole was in the window to help prevent a break in. The hanging light looked like it had punches thrown at it. The air conditioning unit blew directly on the person sleeping on that side which was me! It did have a safe, microwave and refrigerator that kind of worked. The bathroom was kind of clean but we always carry Lysol wipes just for this situation. The mirror above the sink was missing some of its frame. The vanity lights had dead bugs that look like they’ve been there for awhile. Forgot to take pics of that. The bed was comfy enough. When we decided to get some fresh air, my wife almost fell down the stairs because there was no light. The sun was setting and it was dark staircase. We looked around the property and noticed several doors had looked like they’ve been there were kicked in and dented as well as...
