Some time last year, a few coworkers recommended Qwik Chinese to me, but I never actually got around to eating there until this past week. I'm actually kind of disappointed I didn't go sooner, because I could have had extra year of eating here that I missed out on.
I've been searching for a good Kung Pao chicken near my office for about 4 years now with little success. The places I've tried either had terrible meat or the sauce was weak and thin, where I prefer a thicker, brown sauce. Qwik Chinese's Kung Pao is about as perfect as I could hope for. The sauce is thick and delicious, the chicken is of a great quality and the portion is huge. The only thing I wish it had was more spice, but that's easily remedied by asking for a side of pepper paste.
So far I've also had the General Tao's Chicken and orange chicken, and both were equally amazing. I've been nothing but impressed with the food so far.
Also, the staff is incredibly friendly. It appears to be run by a family, and both times I've been in, I was waited on by an incredibly friendly gentleman. The second time I came back, he already had my order from last time memorized, which genuinely impressed me. I genuinely can't wait to go...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here a few times while we were on vacation because it was close to our hotel. The first evening we ordered Fried Rice, Pork Fried Rice & Vegetable Lo Mein. The young man repeated back our order and had it correct, but when we received our food he had forgotten part of my order. I wasn't charged for it so I didn't make a big deal about it, we just ate the other food which was very tasty. 2 days later we returned here for lunch. We order General Tsao's Chicken & Fried Rice. Again when the same young man repeated back the order he had it correct but when we received our food he had part of it wrong. We received the Fried Rice and come strange bland tasting soup that I didn't ask for. He got it corrected, i just had to wait a little longer while they prepared my meal. When I received it I was surprised because it tasted nothing like General Tsaos Chicken at all. I've eaten at many different Chinese restaurants so I know that taste can vary from place to place but this was way off. I tried to douse it hot sauce but it didn't help. I barely at any of it. The Fried Rice however was very good just as before and I wasn't charged to the mistaken soup. Some of the food was bad and...
Read moreIt's all about the food to go. Delivered quickly, cooked exceptionally, at a reasonable price. I can't imagine eating there, because it's awesome at home, and kind of dreary inside, but if I had to, I would enjoy the food anywhere. But make dining in your last option....you are surrounded by great parks! This spot has been a family go-to for years. Sure, if I want regional Chinese cooking, I hit Mesa & Chandler. Shaanxi Garden, Heng's, Chou's, Szechwan Noodle, Old Town, all deliver amazing regional food, but my parents aren't as thrilled with Pig's Ear in Chili oil, Szechwan Peppers that pop in my mouth, or beautifully prepared Tripe as I am. So when we want that Americanized Chinese experience that we grew up with, this is the spot to get it to go. I'm sorry Ling & Louie's, George & Son's, Flo's Totties etc...when I want food to go, this is just better. If it's fried, it's crisp not soggy. I love the Spicy Orange Tofu, the Special Spicy Eggplant, the fried rice, noodles, almost any beef dish, the vegetables, and the new dumpling and Bao choices. And the old standby's of my childhood....sweet and sour, lemon or orange Chicken, pork and tofu are all yummy. It never...
