Good service can sometimes excuse bad food. However, bad service will always overshadow good food.
So, pulling up about 2:30, a good amount of folks are inside, patronage looks steady. It is in North Scottsdale, so we know why.
They have the Detroit classics; coneys, chili fries, chicken pitas. They even carry glass bottle Faygo, Vernon's and the smallest bags of Better Made I think they distribute. 😑 The menu is excessive. They have all kinda other stuff on there, that's truly just not needed. Panko fried cauliflower, fried pickles and green beans and street tacos 🙄...just why.
Anyway, the space is nice, Not gonna lie. They have a huge TV on the wall and you know they running the Lions Games 🦁. They have a nice sized patio with those misters to keep you cool. A nice size bar and high top tables and chairs, which is my preference, as well as some booth space. It could definitely make for a great spot to gather together.
Soooo for customer service. The bartender was very inviting, he greeted me with a smile, ran the drinks specials and gave me some additional info on why he currently works there.... I can tell he's a vibe when the drinks are flowing.
Where the 1st problem lies is the cashier taking orders. It really doesn't take ANYTHING to smile. The greeting, if we can call it that was curt, she was short and was rushing me, when we were the only diners waiting to order. I was definitely put off. Like maam, you literally are the impression
Where the 2nd problem lies, which ties into the first, the price paid for the food was outrageous. The clientele is clearly people who 🗣DONT KNOW ANY BETTER 🗣
The price I paid for the 5 meals would have been a cool $40 at best in MI, im not even gonna tell ya what the total was. If the cashier, Lily, was nicer, it would have made that total sting a little less. Everything was Ala carte. You gonna sell me a burger for $13 AND NOT INCLUDE FRIES, that's asinine. Only thing I recall on the menu that included fries and a drink was the Everyday Combo with 2 coneys. Now I aint tripping but it's the PRINCIPLE!!! So the food, it was good, not amazing as that wasnt my expectation. I can say that cuz I had coney in Detroit August 25th, so my palate is just fine.
The coneys snapped, literally, cuz that's what their supposed to do. The fries were seasoned well and crisp. They had wings, the portion was laughable and the girls (age 10) had honey hot and Buffalo and neither flinched...🙄 The big kid got a Cheesy grilled burger and she said it slapped. She may have been famished as injust picked her up from work lol. I did partake in Jack and Coke and it was poured nice.
Final take: we pop in literally every blue moon, it's never a wow but it's not a full meh. I really just can't get past the person who should be the face of the operation. That's enough to make me okay with waiting to visit home to get that good hood "What Up Doe" that we all know and love. They could use an extra person, because a table sat next to us with food and trash the whole time we were there. ** reading other reviews, looks like the customer service issue still hasn't been and won't be addressed 😐 I'm just a lady that likes to eat. Take it how ya want to. Visit if you choose and let me know...
Read moreSo I took a friend here for dinner. After work. I asked for the vegan menu. The cashier the girl with the unbrushed hair with her awfully distasteful dress code. Looked like she rolled out of bed. Had the same attitude as she looked. I didn't come to dinner to be snarked at or snipped at so it ordered my vegan meal and she looked to me. What kind of cheese do you want on that? Then? I looked at her I said well I'm vegan. That means that would probably like vegan cheese. Oh well. Let me see if I can get them to stop and make sure they put vegan cheese on it and before I could actually type in my email address. She went in and took control of the cash register and I couldn't send myself a receipt because she had to go back in and change the order to put vegan cheese. I know it's hard to hire people that are professional that take care of your business and that actually make people want to come back to your business. I really don't want to come back and I don't think there's anything that you can say or do that will make me come back. The food was good. Other people place to order for takeout in several of the people that order takeout had to come back in and have their orders corrected because they were not right in the begin with.
I think the girl at the cashier counter needs a brush and a hug. Maybe it should be nicer to people.
It shouldn't be about vegans or anything. It should be about customer service and this is not my first time in your restaurant. Sorry I...
Read moreI don’t know what these other reviews are referring to but this place is amazing! As a transplant Detroiter living here in the Valley, I cannot believe I just found out about this spot! First, the service is outstanding! I’ll repeat…. outstanding. I was hanging out outside (spectacular views of the sunset and mountains) while watching a game and the owner was there - he brought complimentary (and delicious) sandwiches around for every single table to try. He was very hospitable (and passionate about the place). The other servers were friendly and attentive. Plus, this is a coney (granted it’s a bit more of a gourmet coney than we find back in Michigan) but I’ve never been to a coney and thought too much about the service… that’s not why you’re there. You’re there for cheap/good comfort food that’s quick! I can’t speak too much about the food here other than the one coney I had was great. Stayed true to the coneys back home and then some. I’m excited to check out the rest of the menu. And to top it off, the vibe/memorabilia was done really well. It feels like a coney and really feels like you’re back in Detroit but you know you’re not because it’s way cleaner and doesn’t smell 🤣! Love this spot. It’s a must for anyone who has ever been to a coney...
