Really cute museum with a 15 minutes film so you know what you're looking at! The gift shop was nice too but the cashier was rather rude. I'm a rock hound and in the shop they had one of those fill a small bag of rocks for 5 bucks. I didn't want a bag of rocks though. I just wanted the one in particular. So I asked the lady at the register if it was possible to just buy the one rock at a discounted price. I wasn't rude and I wasent trying to imply that it was over priced because it wasn't. I was just curious if i could buy the one for a dollar or so. In the nastiest tone she goes " you can buy ONE rock for 5 DOLLARS or you can buy a BAG of rocks for 5 DOLLARS." All I did was ask a question 🙄 I'm on the younger side and I was disgusted to see her treat me like this not just because of my age but also because I'm a valued customer who has money to give. I really don't see what was wrong with my question at all epically because i was super nice while asking. We bought the bag of rocks and a postcard plus a present for my father. I went up there and she said the total was 17 dollars!!! I was confused because I did the math and all of it should of been under 10. So I said " 17?" Scared that she would go off on me again. She looked at the screen and said " sorry! I meant 7!" In the sweetest most joking voice acting like she didn't just yell at me not even 15 minuets ago. Probably scared I'd come and leave this review. Otherwise a great trip with lost of cool facts and interesting ...
Read moreSo I have been very interested in this story from the early eighties. I followed it for years, and i finally, I found myself in a place where I could have a few pieces of this wonderful treasure. There's a lady named Megan who has been assisting me in picking out just the right pieces that I was looking for and she has gone above and beyond, because i've been particular in what i've been looking for she has allowed me to call her numerous times, she's taken photos of the pieces, she has worked with me personally just to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. And i'm not some ultrawealthy person so I had to carefully pick the pieces I wanted. I am so happy !!then I finally got to be a part of this wonderful find. If you are looking for something and you know what it is, or maybe you have no idea ask to speak with her.She will take the time to help you ask you the questions and find a piece that's within your budget. I just can't say enough about this. And be careful that you go directly to the source and don't be taken by imposters ,people that are trying to claim, they have authentic pieces, go directly to the source.my friends and talk to Megan. The best part of it is that she was able to educate me in many ways about this treasure, which has made it even...
Read moreA good older museum telling Mel Fisher’s story. This museum is located right off US1 on the east side of the road. It took me 3 times to find it since there was road construction being done right in front on the day I decided to visit it. I recommend approaching this from the Indian River Drive side. You will find it at the corner of This road and Jefferson street. The parking lot in front (next to the US-1 side) only has about 10 spaces. The entrance is on Jefferson street side. It may look dated but the story it tells about Mel Fisher is worth the visit. You enter and pay the fee (tickets are $8/person for adults). There is a film that explains the Mel Fisher story in a theater on the left. Once complete you exit the museum proper. It is a set of displays describing his treasure hunting, supreme court fight for treasure hunter rights, and his life and legacy. The authentic displays lead you into the gift shop where you can buy a piece of history. It is a great tribute to Mel Fisher, his history, his legacy, the treasures he found, and his fight to keep them against the government. The staff was great. The price was reasonable. If you want to learn about this fascinating person, this site is a diamond...
