Beware of a grown man proud to call himself a troublemaker. I belonged to this place for a year and half, and pretty much from the get go I was on edge due to the shop manager named Ariel Stone. To avoid the he-said-she-said argument, I'll spare you the tirade of how awful this guy is, the cult like behavior that enables him and the year and half I was stressed out trying to do work there under his eye. So instead, I feel the need to clear any confusion especially towards my name since everything was so hush-hush there. A while ago, I thought I finally had the evidence to expose this man for the instigating fraud that he is. I caught him stealing community property. After a lengthy and bizarre process, I was told he was going to be demoted while others were told he was voluntarily stepping down as head shop manager. Things really didn't change though from the status quo so I quit. I was always deemed the trouble maker while the real culprit was always so proud and ready to take on that pathetic persona. Some things I did to counter his negativity were immature but whatever, I'm a troublemaker so praise me like you do him;) It sucks because this place is so fantastic otherwise and one completely rotten apple has ruined it for apparently so many others. So tread carefully especially if you are a wood worker.

Chimera is Sebastopol's hidden gem for the maker-artist community. It's tucked off the main drag and fills a former industrial warehouse space. Inside that, you'll find a community of makers, teachers, classes, and workshops that are quite diverse, unusual, and powerful. You can learn any craft from woodwork to welding. Traditional things like oil painting or new things like laser cutting. Everything is not offered on a weekly basis, but if you follow their calendar, there are new craft and skill offerings and classes every month or so. Prices for the classes are very reasonable, less than any JC would charge. They have an open house on the first friday of every month. Worth a visit to...

Wonderful place! Wonderful people! The jewelry soldiering workshop my husband and I attended this weekend, taught by Nancy LT Hamilton was so much fun (and yes, very educational)! Makers place is a great place, and located in the fantastic city...
