I love taking my Grandkids ages 5&9 to Ives Park at least once a week. I also enjoy walking my dog there every evening, I live downtown Seb. During Baseball season, we often stay and watch. The Park is usually Dog Friendly, but every so often there are folks that THINK their Dog doesn't need to be Leashed. This upsets me because my dog suffers a No Blood Clotting Factor Disease and if she were to get bitten bad by a so called friendly "pitbull" whatever breed...she would DIE. Why do People NOT understand there are SEVERAL REASONS to please LEASH your so called friendly DOG. This is my ONLY complaint, otherwise Ives Park is a PERFECT family friendly fun spot to spend the day to have a BBQ, picnic, kids playground,swim, or just taking your Dog...
Read moreIves Park might be considered “Sebastopol’s Backyard.” It boasts shady Willow trees, stands of tall Redwoods, water features (including a solar-heated swimming pool and a fenced-off, channelized creek), modern play equipment for children, a sculpture garden, picnic tables, an accessible stage, restrooms and a lighted and a fenced off softball diamond with bleachers. Plus it is adjacent to the wonderful Sebastopol Center for the Arts. The only downside to Ives’ is that the pathways through the park urgently need repair/replacement. Read moreWe just went to the annual Kawanis sponsored Easter Egg Hunt at Ives Park. My kids age 3 & 5 had so much fun looking for all of the treats which included plastic eggs with prizes inside, real dyed eggs, and lots of candy. The egg hunted lasted all of 5 minutes on the grassy picnic ground so we ventured over to the large playground which has a variety of fun equipment for the kids. Its not a new playground but everything was in good condition and the kids had fun. A creek runs through this park and unfortunately it is fenced off with an ugly...
